i was awakened from sleep lfriday night by a franitc banging on the door. all the kids were home but my heart immediately lept to my throat. it was dark of course and i couldn't see who it was but the person identified himself as a friend of my twins.

i was not prepared for the words that came tumbling out of this kid's mouth. he was breathing hard, and i saw what looked like raw fear in his face as he said "i was shot at." good god.

i have come to appreciate utube. a year ago i really didn't know a thing about it. i have been able to see political speeches, historical ones, via utube. i've been able to see, over and over, the angel that is susan boyle sing her amazing rendition of "i dreamed a dream" via utube. my daughter has learned more about styling the hair of her american girl dolls via utube than i would ever have dreamt existed.

dick cheney seriously needs to zip his lip, cut the crap, and go crawl back under a rock. first he was angry because intelligence documents were released. now he's angry because he wants more of them released. i so do not miss the days of the bush/cheney baloney.

America and Africa

i've been watching reports of the norfolk based ship, overtaken by pirates off the coast of africa, somalia specifically. it's just a wierd thought....this notion of pirates at sea. i had no idea how common it was. today's attack was the sixth time a massive ship has been overtaken by these pirates in......not a decade, not a year, not a month even....but in six days. stunning, wouldn't you say?
