What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Poverty, Education, Violence, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other

So what is it?: Failure of Empathy and Mental Numbness

What must we overcome to achieve peace?: Fear

More: I believe people protect themselves behind a belief system and relate to others out of fear rather than love, then dull the despair by mindlessly loving things and using people.

Can we change the world?: Definitely

More about me: I was sensitized to conflict growing up, and later during the 1970's. I work now as a child welfare worker bringing peace to families at war.

confusion -- the war in my heart

trying to understand the war in the middle east is so hard for me. My heart bleeds for the Israelis who have fought for centuries for a place to call home. That's what I understand -- what I've been told. I don't know the truth. Truth is just so elusive. It was easier in 1970, when I was 21 and everything looked good in black and white -- for or against -- dividing the world into good guys and bad guys.
