More about myself

I am from a mixed Egyptian British background along with some Irish and German blood. My fascination has always been with the Arab Israeli conflict and how a neutral instrument of international law can be used not as a weapon by one side to blame the other but as a means of providing a lasting stable and reasonable resolution to the crisis.

After spending the last ten years studying the issues in some depth, I now feel confident to do whatever I can to work towards a resolution. For the time being, I write in whatever forum is available to counter disinformation and take part in public debates both in Arabic and English. I am always open to new suggestions and points of view.

I Giorni - Ludovico Einaudi The Tyranny of UnPeace The understanding I have of the causes for the absence of peace is that it is due to the distortion of truth by the politically powerful and the use of fear as a weapon to control people.
This way, the oppression of the weak by the powerful continues, because those who are too lazy to investigate the facts for themselves, believe the distortions they are fed by propaganda, while those who discover the true facts are too fearful for their own safety to do anything about it, because even if they tried, the system of international law is too weak to protect them or too make the tyrants accountable, and so tyranny continues, either by one country on another or by a government on its own people.

The Layers of Resistance to Championing Truth

First is Apathy:- Not caring to know, the attitude of "it's not my problem". Once this first level of resistance is penetrated, usually by a shocking image of human suffering that we simply cannot shut out ...

This image of the My Lai massacre in 1972 in Vietnam is a classic example that broke through the apathy of many. Those whose attitude was still "it's not my problem" were soon moved with the increasing numbers of American caualties.

Next is Ignorance

Believing to be true that which is not true is even more powerful than simply not knowing anything about a particular situation. This is why so much effort is spent on propaganda, but it usually contains some contradiction with itself or with a a universal fact that is undeniably true

Next is Belief in Impotence

Having overcome apathy and ignorance so that we care about our shared fellowship of humanity and our shared home of Earth and the truth of matters is clear to us, if we really believe we can do nothing then we can still not be a champion of truth.

Next is Fear
...of ridicule, of losing friends, of not being able to get a job,

Next is Time
... not having time because of work and family commitments, meanwhile tyranny reigns sypreme or does it...?

Britain joins Ahmadinejad walkout

Given that the underlying ethos of the UN General Assembly and Security Council is to provide a forum for the exchange of views however contentious or uncomfortable, reflecting Sir Winston Churchill's adage of "Jaw Jaw not War War", doesn't the walkout by US and UK delegations at the General Assembly during the speech by… Continue

Stopping the symptoms or causes of aggression in Palestine / Israel?

Some points to consider ...

On the subject of defeating Hamas:

"They hit first..." is the kind of justification for "violence in response" that might be expected from children who have not yet learnt how to behave in a civilised manner.

Hamas rockets and grenades are weapons of mass destruction just like Israeli bombs and missiles. Israel, like Iraq in the time of Saddam Hussein, is a member state of the United Nations. It is under the same… Continue
