More: Selfishness breeds competition and a scarcity mentality, which breeds fear of loss and hatred towards the unknown.
The cure is simply to realize that we are all the same consciousness exploring itself subjectively; that the universe is eternally abundant; that we attract what we think we deserve and that there is no upper limit to our joy and happiness.
