TEL AVIV (AFP) — Israel's entry for the annual pilgrimage of kitsch and glitz that is the Eurovision song contest has a serious message this year -- an Arab and a Jew singing together for peace in a troubled homeland.

Ahinoam Nini, a Jew of Yemeni origin, and Mira Awad, a Christian Arab from the Galilee, hope the strains of their song "There Must Be Another Way" will echo far beyond the Moscow… Continue

Slightly over 2 weeks ago I posted a blog titled: I cry with you Abu al-Aish , about a special moment in the Gaza war when Palestinian civilian suffering drove home to every Israeli living room.

Today, the IDF published the results of its inquiry into the incident. The IDF admitted that 3 of Dr. Abu al-Aish daughters were killed by 2 tank shells that… Continue

advertising my services for last few months
and have sent them the Peace Flower
& Jodi from listings

Jodi called tonight
and over phone asking me Q's? of the story of PeaceFlower
she typed up story below,..
this is what has been sent to editor
soo it may or may not be in next issue,...

But I just wanted to share the excitement,..
here is what she sent to editor...
****StopPress..
as I waited for PeaceFlowers in HeartSymbol to upload,..
I had an anxious moment,..
are you Israeli or Palestinian?,..
does this matter?
this sounds so naive as I sit here in Sydney,..
I have meant no insult
in how you are referred
to as the founder of iPeace,..
an Israeli PeaceActivist....
the PeaceFlower has Blossomed
since I connected with iPeaceFamily
& that is thanks to you dearest PeaceBrotha!!!
My humble apologies
if you are a PalestinianPeaceActivist
Now ,..back to what was sent to editor,..

In 2004, Sydney teacher and artist Helen Black McCahon was at an International Peace Day event in a beautiful Sydney waterside garden with a group of other people meditating for peace. Helen had an image of beautiful flowers appearing over their heart chakras with the message “peace is a flower that blossoms in your heart”.

From then she started drawing flowers for people to colour in, with the idea that as people colour in flowers their hearts are at peace and all thoughts of war and violence are removed from their minds.

Helen designed flowers with 22 petals, which represent three layers of awareness: the outer layer (5) is the physical senses, the inner layer (11) represents heart awareness and the middle (6) represent the higher self.

Children are shown the outer layers and their corresponding senses first, then invited to cover their heart with their hands and then invite peace in.

One day a little boy she was teaching started colouring in the petals as the flags of different countries and told her “if the countries of the world never talk about peace, we’ll never have it”, and Helen took the concept to heart.

In 2005-2006 she began scanning in the flowers and emailing them to friends and fellow teachers, and followed the sun around the world on International Peace Day.

In 2007 someone put one of her flowers on a website for Universal Life Tools, from where Helen started receiving thankyou emails from around the world. So Helen started marking out on a world map where people were colouring in her flowers!

In 2009 she joined iPeace, a network of 20,000 people started by an Israeli peace activist named David Califa, and sent a peace flower to them.
In May 2009 Helen decided to start sending 100 peace flowers over a 100 day period and the process began on the June solstice. She has now received emails all over the world who are colouring them/passing them on, including from a minister in New York, the Girl Guides in Massachusetts
and most recently from a Palestinian man who had taken a flower to a school in Palestine for children to colour.

email for people to contact is alphabetofdestiny@yahoo.com.au

Wow David,...just wanted to share the excitement...

Lotsa Lov & Laughter,...
Your PeaceSiSta in Sydney..Helen

We have connected before David,...
I'm the one who has her birthday on NewYear'sEve,..
and made everyone at my party
colour in PeaceFlowers...
