What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Hunger, Poverty, Human Rights, Other

So what is it?: The human and environmental exploitation by the West has created a vast disparity, causing many problems, which affect women and children the most. The runaway pursuit of profit has caused the degredation of humanity, our planet.....

More: the quest for wealth and power has created an environment lacking in humanity, reason, or integrity, creating a vast disparity between the very rich and the very poor; 2.8 b. people live on less than $2 per day. Many of these people are women supporting children. 27000 children die everyday from poverty related diseases. We have allowed a global cultlure of greed, violence and poverty to grow into a worldwide catastrophe for billions of people.

More about me: I am the Director and Founder of Women's Global Empowerment Fund, a microfinance non-profit organization working in post conflict northern Uganda. We offer microcredit loans and educational programs to women so that they may create a sustainable, brighter future for themselves and their families. Founded in 2007 we have served over 750 women, have a 100% repayment rate, serve 97 women in our literacy program.
I am a recent graduate of University of Colorado, where I received a Master's Degree, studying gender and development. I feel inspired by the women we serve and am thrilled to be a social entrepreneur.
