Hanno ignorato un barcone stracolmo di migranti con il mare forza 7 e il vento che spirava a 31 nodi. Solo un miracolo ha fatto si che non succedesse l'ennesima tragedia del mare e della migrazione. Non è più possibile tacere sull'ignobile comportamento tenuto da Malta.
Non è la prima volta che accade, ma questa volta le autorità maltesi hanno davvero superato ogni limite e noi crediamo che sia il caso di rivedere l'adesione di Malta all'Unione Europea. Con questa azione Malta è passata sopra al Diritto Internazionale, al Diritto Marittimo, alla Convenzione di Ginevra, alla Convenzione di Barcellona, alla Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti Umani e alle più elementari leggi umane.
Erano 298 le persone a bordo di quel natante scalcinato lungo appena 17 metri. Tra loro 46 donne, quattro delle quali incinte, e 29 bambini. E' uno scandalo che non può essere trascurato. Malta non ha i requisiti per far parte dell'Unione Europea e va espulsa immediatamente. Lo chiediamo chiaramente con un esposto al Consiglio Europeo e non si tratta di una provocazione. Siamo realmente convinti che non ci sia una sola ragione per cui Malta debba rimanere nell'Unione Europea, debba prendere milioni e milioni di euro per pattugliare una zona di mare immensa e poi rifiuti letteralmente di portare soccorso a quasi 300 disperati in balia del mare forza 7. E' vergognoso e non può essere tollerato.
Si butti a mare la diplomazia, è Malta che ha bisogno dell'Europa e non il contrario. Se vuole rimanere in questo esclusivo club deve rispettare le regole altrimenti che venga espulsa immediatamente. Il comportamento delle autorità della Valletta è degno dei peggiori regimi di questo mondo e non può più essere tollerato. Basta buonismo e buone maniere. Malta va messa subito sotto inchiesta giudiziaria anche dalla magistratura italiana (c'è un morto) e se si individuano i colpevoli, fosse anche il Presidente, vanno perseguiti per omissione di soccorso. Poteva essere una strage e solo grazie all'intervento della Marina italiana oggi si può contare solo una vittima. Ora basta.
