World Cup Fan Lands L'Oréal Professionel Contract After Picture Goes Viral
Sports fans, here's a word of advice: Next time you're off to cheer on your favorite team, as you apply your festive face paint, keep in mind that one of the most coveted modeling contracts in the world could be at stake. Of course, we weren'tquite aware of this before—and we're assuming Axelle Despiegelaere wasn't either when the young Belgian set out to support her team in Brazil two weeks ago. But after a picture of her cheering from the stands (decked out in her country's national colors...and a viking hat) went viral on Twitter, L'Oréal Professionel came a-knocking. The 17-year-old now has an "affiliation" campaign with the beauty giant and revealed on Facebook on Tuesday that she signed a contract. You know, with the company that taps faces like Blake Lively, Doutzen Kroes, and Zoe Saldana (and Kristen Dunst and Poppy Delevingne specifically in its Professionel division).
It's not the first time a beauty has been spotted at a sports game. Last January, Cincinnati Bengals' quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend, Katherine Webb, was eyed by sportscasters and gained thousands of Twitter followers as a result...but no major beauty contract like Axelle.
It's still very, very difficult for us to get excited about anything Belgian-related right now. But we have to hand begrudging props to Axelle, firstly for having a name that basically begs to be household, and secondly for having hair so gorgeous that L'Oréal Professionel wasted no time in filming this video for the campaign
