In 1989, we came to United Arab Emirats, because of business. We did not know much about arabs, or moslems, or their way of live. We were overwelmed by their willingness to help, to know more about us, our way of life, and: they did NOT expect anything in return (wich is oposite to our way of life in Europe) .I did not expect to find a church there, but, because it was cristmas time, i told to one of our new friends, i would like to go to church. His answer was: lets go! I was surprised, that in a moslem country, one can find a church, but, he drove me there, and waited 3!!!!hours for me, to come out! I would not know anybody here, who would do the same thing for a moslem! Not even me, before this expirience! We meet people from other emirats, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, but all of them had one in comon :big heart and urge to help! I remember one arab girl, 9 years old ,coming every day ,to pick up my boy:only word in english were: Timo, where? Then, she picked him up, and dissapired till night, every day, for tree weeks ! Because i was working, i was thankful, i did not have to care about him, and he just enjoyed to spend his time with a big family! We stayed there for 6 months, and came back allmost every year .Why? Coz, i dont know something like this from Europe! In all those time, i did not see any sign of racism or disrespect, but their big heart and openness.
I hope, this blog can remove some clouds about moslems or arabs .i would wish, we , in Europe, would treat others like they treated me!I
In love and respect to all of you, Biba

Dear Biba, believe me i just now reading about your experience with muslems people. I feel as an arabic, tunisian muslem person very very happy and very thankful for your kindness and for the beauty of your heart. Even we can find the benefactors and malefactors in the whole world, the main thing which i can clarify for you: everygood behavior and everygood thing are considered as obligations for muslim people. If we observe some bad gestures committed by certain Arabic, in fact its only reflect their bad education and their bad understanding of the islam . Now and after your contact with the muslem, arabic people from the meadle east i hope that you plan one day to visit the great Maghreb Arab (one of these 5 countries: Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Mouritania, at this time you can judge about this different people). In all cases welcome to Tunisia as a specific friend you and your approaches,
my blessings, my best friend

Dearest Biba, you have written from your heart. And, you are an angel of peace and harmony and would surely your experience would go a long way in removing the misconceptions about moslems in other parts of the world, our global village, our mother earth. We need peace and love to be at peace. God the Great Bless all.
With peace and love

I was attracted to read about "my experience with moslems" written by a co-patriot :-) I think this group is a wonderful place to meet and know each other better. What we know we are not afraid of, right ? I am a lender with www.Kiva.org and I love to lend to women in Moslem countries. We are all One :-)
Peace,
Antonia

there is one thing these people do over there these people there take care of there parents and they are not in nursing homes like others are in the west do. there very much were raised to be good caring and respected people. I have two muslim women that I have been with has used me fair ..I have a lot of respect to those talked to me that are men I have a friend from Jordan that I have been always been friends with we have always spoke.

they are just decent people. my wife who met a young man 0f in his 20's told my wife that if we come to Morocco . he would let us stay in his house to visit. how much more can that be some one that not know us that well...to want us to come over.

Dear Biba,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this with all of us. Since I am a founder and currently director of the Center for peacebuilding in Bosnia, I propouse to you (and others) publicly :) to come and help a small peacebuilding community in Bosnia to spread words of tolerance, love and coexistance. We have lived like this and many of us want to live that way again.
I can't wait to meet you in person.
peace and love,
vahidin

dear david!
i would like to honore you,for the work, you do.there is so much fear,on both sides, and the only way to overcome,is by love.jesus speaks about loving your next as your self,he did not mentioned,to love them only if they have the same faith,color,car,etc....
we can overcome mountains,by faith, rather then by mathematical conclusion!

As a person whose family has suffered loss in the London Bombings I have made a point since in Standing up for our Muslim neighbours and have spend the last three years becoming conversant in their religion, culture and way of life. I was sickened by the ignorant attacks that I saw after 9/11 and 7/7. I have read the Qur'an several times now and know that criminal acts are against the spirit of this wonderful book of forgiveness and mercy. I can say that my studies that are continuing have strengthened my own Christian faith in that it has brought me nearer to an understanding of God/Allah.

I have visited Mosques and belong to a local Islamic study group as well as having a presence upon several Islamic websites. I have been welcomed warmly by these loving people and would embrace anyone of any other faith as a fellow believer. I have never been turned away regardless of my awkward questions. Ali Afifi here on ipeace is a typical example of the welcome I have received and the unstinting courtesy that I have had even when asking difficult questions.

I believe passionately that we have to learn about each other's faiths and to become conversant with each other's cultures if we are to work towards a more peaceful, fair and equitable world...firstly within out own neighbourhoods as well as within the wider world. I also believe passionately that the peace between the Children of Abraham is the key to peace in the Middle East where respect must be restored on all sides.
If I of all people can see past the hatreds to find love and respect so can the rest of the world.

Biba I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you on this matter.
