Hi Paul! Thanks for writing to welcome me to IPeace...I don't disagree with anything in your own profile - especially the point about everyone being bigoted in some way or another, because I think that is one characteristic of human beings which many of us don't like to admit to but that everyone has, so I appreciate your saying so. I also want to note that I had a very hard time choosing one thing that I feel is the biggest obstacle for peace but I finally chose 'Religion' for the reason I gave, however, l believe that Prejudice, Bigotry, Hate, Fear and Ignorance (to name the top 6 reasons, incl Religion) are just as much to blame. Unfortunately, many religious leaders perpetuate the prejudice, bigotry, hatred, fear and ignorance of 'the other' in their sermons to their followers, many of whom blindly accept the words of their leader, without question, as the words of God! In any case, all of the above reasons add up to ONE HUGE OBSTACLE and yet I think we must allow ourselves the hope that, one day, this huge obstacle might be overcome.
I think of myself as a realist, not a pessimist, but many see me as a pessimist because I don't believe in setting myself up for disappointment or despair with fantastical ideas about 'happy endings', if you will, such as "I'm sure we will see world peace in our lifetime". Which is the reason I answered "Maybe" to the question about an individual being able to help affect change in the world but now that I have had time to think more on this question (which refers to an individual being able to "help affect change"), I do believe each one of us can play a part in helping to affect change, yes. If each individual adds his/her voice to all the other individuals who believe in the same cause, we will at least be able to make ourselves heard, loud and clear, and that's a start.
Paul, thanks again for writing to me and for making me think more thoroughly about my answers to these questions and the issues they address. I really appreciate it!
Thanks for your message Paul. Will you tell me also, if there is a possibility to look at my comments or mails, directly on Ipeace, without receiving systematically on my own mails (I should look at Ipeace, of course, regularly!). Thanks again. Margot

Hi Paul,
I created this group called Basic Income Guarantee - The End of Poverty. Guess you probably heard about it, as I think the idea is widely more spread in Australia & NZ than in Norway, where I live. Hope you will take a minute to check it out and hopefully join in!
Peace, love & joy!
