Black Elk

A couple of years ago a few of us guys organized a "Men's Conference" in our community. we thought it was a success...the men who attended the conference. One of the quotes I used was from the Oglala Sioux and Spiritual Leader, Black Elk(1863 - 1950)
He says, on PEACE, "The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells WAKAN TAKA(Greta Spirit), and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but refelctions of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals and the third is that which is made between two nations, but above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men."

Others have made this observation from eons past and will probably say this way into the our future. Peace!!

Comment by Harold Tookenay on February 23, 2009 at 5:22pm: When you suggested iPeace and New Dawn sites, it was a reminder for me to focus in on my own inner peace I used to work on but somehow neglected over the past few years. When I was living and working at Edmonton this was my goal. I think now is the time to re-focus and to some degree I've begun the process of inner healing again. Mostly, paying attention to my inner processes, in how I think, feel, and behave in relation to people, places, and things/situations. It's a daily thing and a life long process. Worth it though, I suppose, as a means to peace.
