Operation "Cast Lead" (To possible war crimes)

The Israeli armies devastation of Gaza which started in December of 2008 and has never really stopped, with daily reports of bombs being dropped on tunnels under the Gaza and Egypt border. The world watched on with little or no view of what was happening inside the city. We all heard the horror stories of children being lined up and sho in front of their familiest. A piece of grainy video footage of a paramedic taking a two month old baby out of an ambulance, she had been run over by a Israeli tank and burned to a state beyond recognition. We heard about the use of weapons known as DIME bombs. DIME stands for "Dense Inert Metal Explosives" which means when the bomb goes off it fires microscopic projectiles made of carsonagenic tungsten. If you are lucky to be in the blast radius you will be liquified, if you are just outside it you will be hit with microscopic debre, which doctors cannot see because of how small they are. So they have no idea how to help you. If you do survive and they remove the barbed metal from all your organs, you will most definetly have cancer. The deaths of fourt civilians when the IAF dropped a bomb on a UN school. Which they knew was a school.

Richard Falk, a UN rights envoy is now calling for both Israel and the Hamass government to be tried for war crimes. Both parties breaching the part of the Geneva convention that states you must distinguish military targets in a civilian surrounding. Which they didn't. Neither did. Hamass with their not so lethal but just as frightening rockets that were fired into Israels outskirts. Mr Falk also brought up the use of white phospherous. A chemical weapon that should not be used in such dense areas. This weapon that killed so many in Fallujah in Iraq when the Americans tried to take the city for the second time. Is a horrid piece of work. It releases a gas that burns when it collides with moisture, therefore if you breath in this gas it reacts in your mouth, throat and lungs and can burn you from the inside out. Water only makes it worse and the only way you might be able to stop it is by swallowing wet mud.

Ehud Olmert this week praised and some what tried to glorify the army by saying "they are the most moral army in the world". To what degree of morality we would find out a day later, when it was released that Israeli soldiers were wearing T-shirts at the end of their deployment, that sported an illustration of a pregnant woman within a snipers crosshair on her pregnant stomach and a terrifying phrase below it "1 shot 2 kills." Other shirts had an arab woman grieving beside her childs grave within a crosshair and that one stated "should have used durex." Others had ones with an armed child in a crosshair "The smaller the target, the harder to hit" was the slogan on that one. One had an Israeli soldier blowing up a mosque with the slogan "only God can forgive."

So along with Mr Olmerts statement comes my question. If they are meant to be the most moral army in the world. What standards are their morals ? Judging by their veneration of murder and racism, it cannot be too great. Hamass launch rockets into civilian areas which also has no excuse. But Hamass are recognized internationally as a "terrorist" group. So as the leader in "warefare morality" shouldn't they at least try and set a higher standard ? If the Nuremberg laws were enforced on everybody like they should be. The leader of operation "Cast Lead" could be tried in the Hauge for war crimes. Along with the leaders of Hamass.

Counterintuively, The conflict increased following Israel's removal of all the Israeli civilian's and military from Gaza (completed by 2005). According to the Terms of of the Disengagement Plan, Irrael retainde exculsive control over Gax'a Airspace, Continued to guard and and monitor the External Land permeter of the Gaza strip, with the exception of its southermost Border; ( where Egypt retained control of Border crossings and were supervised by European Monitors.) And they continued to monitor and Guard Gaza's Coast Line!!
Isaerl largely contains control and provides for Gaza. Water supply, electictity and
comminication Devices (Infrastructure). According to "Human Rights Watch and Amnestry
International", by standards of International Law, Israel stillremains an occuping Power.
The Israeli's stated goals in " Operation Summer Rains" and were to supress the firing of Qassam Rockets from Gaza into the Western 'negev' (June 28, 2006 was the frirst major ground coer operation in the Gaza Strip since "Israel's unilateral dissengagement Plan"; was implenented between August and September 2005. Operations Rains was Followed by "Operation Autumn Cloud"; launched on November 1, 2005!! Stastics published by the Israeli Government; 757 missiles were launched from Gaza and hit Israel; between the withdrawal and the end of June 2006! The IDF had responded with artillery fire and air raids. During the operation the pace of both bombing and rocket fire, increased
dramatically and the IDF mounted numerous ground incursions into the Gaza Strip to target militant groups and their infrasturcture. Includling smuggling tunnels in the "Philadelphi Corridor. On the first day of the conflict, Israel also bombed the
'only' electrical power plant in the Gaza Strip. And the Israeli people put it in place for them in the first place. Go Figure. The Hamas's never considered they had it so good!! That is War.

Yeah, once again you didn't notice. I am concerned with civilians being gassed and blown to pieces by an army that are meant to hold purity of arms. Please read everything I say Lynn, before you go and try and tell me what's wrong with what I'm writing. I always side with innocent people who suffer. I said both Hamass and Israel should be tried for war crimes. So why are you trying to update me on something that I know ? I'm talking about the innocent people of both Israel and the Palestinians. What do you think about those t-shirts though ? That's not justified in any way shape or form. Plus the use of chemical weapons by leaders in "warefare morality"

I'm sorry, but I find this hard to swallow as there is no proof of these accusations......I know everytime Israel has tried to reach out, tried to stop the killings, the Hamas have always backed away from any truce and has contineously tried to kill as many Jews as they can....they want this to go on as they are in th mindset of Iran....wipe out the whole cultural of that nation Israel....and they won't rest until the Israelites are dead.....that is such embeded, distasteful hatred brought on by a lifetime of hatred for these people. Left alone, not one war would they start.....
Boy, when will anyoe ever get it....hatred is such a evil, it sucks out anything sane inside of a person.....it is such a sickness, such a disease.....it is a shame I would never, ever want to be associated with.....Linda M

I just recentlymet a woman who lived in Israel for years in her 60s. She was a Jewish person by religion but is married to a Christian man and now lives here. She was very willing to admit fault on both sides and made it clear that groups are one thing and citizens are another. A dead child or adult is the same on both sides, no matter who its still a tragedy. And there is no way one can say Israels leaders are without fault. Hamas isnt a rational group there is no way to convince them to change their ways. I think the only thing do be done in this case is try to prevent people on both sides from being targeted but how to do that? Im not sure.

Most Palestinian groups, and I mean rational ones, would like for Israel to sign and follow UN resolition 242 which means that Israel will withdraw to it's borders of 1967. Which is only fair because it is land they aquired during the six day war. Israel, would like neighbouring countries to acknowledge it's existence. But it does go back further than that. Back to 1948 when the state of Israel was created.

But even today when people like Avigdor Lieberman popping up in the new Benjamin Netanyahu's Israeli government as foreign minister can only lead to something other than wanting surrounding countries to aknowledge his countries existence. He has said openly that he would like to drown Palestinians in the dead sea because it was the lowest point on earth. And he is a supporter of making Muslims inside Israel take "loyality oaths" to Israel.
