A100 Pictures, Images and Photos

I have started this mainly for Les as he is the photographer amongst us, and this will be a place were we can all visit to see what he has snapped, rather than have then scattered about the group. My postings will mainly be what I have found on the web, I will mark the ones that were taken by either my son or daughter :) If you want to just post a photo, as many as you like, with no explanation that's fine, but if you want to let us know a little more about the image that would be great.

It looks almost Biblical...............
I see what you mean Erika.
thanks Les it is a peace place...you can see the light of autumn (looms)
It's so close to the centre of the city and yes it is quite peaceful. Lincoln has grown a great deal since we left this area 15 years ago but there are still green spaces left to enjoy. You're quite right Vicky, the trees are really starting to show their Autumn colours now. They can look so beautiful, although for me there is also a downside, that winter is also approaching! I don't do cold! I start to think of hibernating or emigrating!
I have only been to Lincoln once, we bought Sophie's pony Jack from there, Skegness area. I was surprised how flat it was.

Nothing here has started to turn colour yet except for the laurel, and that isn't supposed to change, only a few leaves have gone yellow, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Are you going to leave for warmer climes?
Well I'm volunteering at Woodbrooke for the first 2 weeks of December but after that it's undecided. Last winter we spent half of it in Portugal, which was very nice. I'd like somewhere rather hotter than that if possible but who knows, it's still 'wait and see' at the moment.
It's never that cold until after Christmas I have found, January and February are always the coldest for me. Once February is over it's not long before Spring.

It will be nice to spend two weeks at Woodbrooke helping, is there much to do in the winter months? Is that a stupid question....... I am not a gardener remember!

The heating should be fixed today..... I hope. It was cold last night, I might as well have slept in the fridge, the sleeping quarters were that cold!
At least if you had slept in the fridge you'd have been handy for a snack in the night if you woke feeling peckish! I sure hope you've had your heating fixed by the time you read this.

I don't go as a garden volunteer to Woodbrooke. There is always a team of (usually) 4 people known as 'Friends in Residence', we volunteer for anything from a week or two up to a couple of months. We are responsible for the welcome and support of visitors and generally running the centre outside of normal hours. A paid housekeeping team and catering team are always there to see to the cleaning and cooking but we look after security, monitoring maintenance problems and solving them by some means, supporting course leaders by making sure that they have everything they need and looking after visitors on courses. We also cover for the administrative staff, manning reception, sorting out any booking problems, attending to room problems. As a 'techie' I usually get all the computer and related problems to sort out too. At times when there are no 'Hospitality' team on site we also cover for them, ensuring that rooms are set up as required with all the necessary equipment, and so on and so on! You name it, we do it! It can be very hard work and the hours can be long but it's very rewarding and I love doing it.
The heating was not fixed yesterday....... he could not come to do it as he had a family problem to sort, today he is going to fix it..... I hope.

I would be handy for snaking, there is always a silver lining if you look!

It was not quite so cold last night, so I was OK. Our bedrooms are in a very shady part of the house, which is great in the summer when it's hot, but it makes for a cold place when the sun is not shinning. Even George the dog does not venture down there now, he sticks to the lounge where we have some heat!

It must be nice to spend sometime as "Friends in Residence", really giving something back. Being able to do all those things must be an asset and makes your stay even more enjoyable.

This is a dandilion covered in dew
That's a cracker Sue! I would love to have taken that photo!

This picture has little merit of its own but I suspect at least two people around here will like the subject!
