I was reading today that Iran has been testing components of a missile that could be used for nuclear weapons. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that it was "breathtaking that Iran could be working on this type of material" because the warheads are still very secret in the US and Britain. Does this give Israel the ammunition they need to strike Iran ? Iran has said if it is attacked by the US or Israel it will not fight back in Iran, but in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I can only imagine the fear of the Israeli people at this news. Knowing what the media calls Israels "arch-foe" has the capability to launch such missiles. Imagine the fear of the Iranian people also, knowing their countries leaders are putting them in a position they cannot speak out against, that could lead to death and destruction in their land.
In a strange coincidence, I was watching a series about the cold war. They talked about Iran trying to obtain nuclear weapons and a nuclear inspector said "I believe we should give Iran nuclear weapons, because it's not about using them, it's about stalemate." Which is what the cold war was all about. It's a radical idea, but it's an idea.
This is a sorry state of affairs, but prompts me to ask some more questions that people might not like. Why isn't the world afraid of the hundreds of illegal nuclear weapons Israel has ? They have around 240 nuclear weapons that are held illegaly. We are meant to fear Iran for Israel, but you're "anti semetic" if you fear Israel for it's Arab neighbours.
Thanks Leo Szilard, thanks a lot.
