I appreciate your comments Steve, but by saying that “Religion itself is neither......it is a body of knowledge and wisdom that has been accumulated. It has and is being used by some for their own selfish purposes, but that does not make the religion wrong, just the person who is abusing it”; You seem to be saying that each church or organization, what ever it’s form of worship, all have the same “body of Knowledge” that they use; some just misuse this knowledge? However we know that this is not true of all religious groups, they do not all function off the same body of Knowledge. Some groups reject completely the “knowledge” of other groups.

The bible clearly shows that there are good and bad religions. James 1:26-27 says: “If any man seems to himself to be a formal worshiper and yet does not bridle his tongue, but goes on deceiving his own heart, this man’s form of worship is futile. 27 The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world”. So James is showing that some forms of worship (religion) are futile, or of no value, and if there are religions that are “clean and undefiled”; then the opposite would have to be true.
religion as i believe is a man made concept run by mankind there are many good theologies in most religious doctrine but the fundamental concept of good and evil should not give one an excuse to do evil saying that "the devil made me do it" or even that doing good things is the will of an invisible and vengeful god one should take credit for what they do either good or bad and take the consequences thereof we are only responsible for our own behavior. the fact that so many people use "churches" as a social arena and to make themselves feel better when they need to just do what is right by their fellow mankind instead is irritating to me and you will not find me partaking in that social stratus nor should a person in a 1000$ suit or dripping with gold tell me how i should live my life in stead they should swear off their worldy goods and feed a nation send medicine to the poor or help build a farm for a household in a starving country send books to inner city schools and teach some one to read them take the time to volunteer somewhere and not do it to make yourself look or feel better but do it to make a difference do not turn a blind eye when you see some one in need help wether it be to hold a door for some one whos hands are full or a smile to a stranger who looks like they could use it to feeding the starving teaching the unknowing and clothing the needy why does mc donalds throw away so much food a day (and they arnt the only ones) why because you the consumer demand such fresh products on demand! we need to change how we ourselves respond to the world how we treat each other we need to see beyond our actions our every action and how it affects the world as a whole as it affects society as a whole to make a difference and religion does not do anything to aid that in fact it helps alienate others who do not have the same ancestral systems that we have how can something like that help? we need to be more than what our ancestry says we are we need to step out of the current acceptable boundaries and embrace a new way religion only shackles the heart and denies the spirit
i would like to add further than some here may judge you but i will turn their own religion upon themselves by saying judge not others lest you be judged yourself and also that in any time it is always some ones duty to say that which others will not out of fear it is that persons right to incite disturbances into the masses so that others are excited into action in my opinion that is simply the effect you were attempting to procure and any one who does not like it is simply afraid of their god and they should in stead be afraid of what their own life has done to diminish the life of this planet and all those within even driving to work they are killing life their fast food lunches are snuffing out thousands their greed is killing them and they are not looking to the bible for answers they are looking for absolution and i say shame on them for that
christine I absolutely agree with ALL you wrote . To me I see all over ipeace & around the world that religion and beliefs - divide more people rather than unify as global citizens ..we ALL share this planet, We are ALL one race of humanity. I am so tired of all the division between nations, people around the world, much over religious beliefs. All you aid here christine is what i believe too. I am responsible for my actions,no one else. I chose to live my life by doing as much as I can, however, wherever I can to create a better world. To help any way I can. To be kind, understanding as well as advocacy activist work to help on many issues.locally & globally.
Peace All..

Also, I am soooo tired of all the bible quotes and preaching! Seems that absolutely no where can religion be discussed with out 1 or more doing this,as is obvious others have different beliefs.so please stop trying to "recruit souls" instead why can't you be Tolerant & respectful ? Whether you agree with others beliefs or not ...thank you.
for the main reason that you did not, i did not attack any one person or single them out. i said my opinions and that was that. i quoted a bible since that was done also and i was answering in kind. i have many christian as well as budist and wiccan and pagan and other friends i respect each and every one of their opinions but that is all they are opinions i have a right to mine and you agreed with many of them i could believe we are genetically created from an alien advanced civilization, but i follow no "religion" other than my heart. i feel that at times a passionate attempt is needed i am not trying to convert any one or "recruit souls" no one need follow me as i will not lead! i am just a very passionate person who says what she believes i did not write this post i responded to it (as did you) of my own free accord. it is not my way to"recruit" that is something a person in organized religion attempts to do as directed by their superiors as i said i will not lead but i surely will not follow either! i have a lot of respect for those who are open and honest and good but i think too many believe that they are simply for following a doctrine (yet what have they really accomplished that was not self gratifying or self preserving?) further respect as my father taught me is something earned not given!
Hi Christine, I think Leah’s commends where directed more to me than you as I have responded to her on other posts, so don’t be offended. I do use scriptures when I talk to people because I am not interested in opinion as much as I am interested in the accuracy of the truths taught in God’s word. Christendom has taught so many lies to the people and along with their terrible example they are misleading millions of people, people in general thanks to the churches have no idea what the bible teaches because the churches don’t teach it. Everyone says “well that is just your opinion”; no, it is exactly what the bible says for those that take the time to look. As Jesus said at Mt 7:15; just look at the fruitage they have produced. No other nation is as immoral or as blood guilty as those nations that claim to be Christian, but they are not; only in name. The churches have not taught and enforced the Applying of Christian principles; they are a big part of the world problem.
Quoting scripture is not recruiting as some on this forum like to say, not any more than giving proof to a mathematical equation or proofs to any other problem. But, for the record and for those that do check their bibles, they might note that this is exactly the work Jesus did was it not? He taught his disciples and then sent them forth to teach others. The last thing Jesus told his true followers before he went to heaven was recorded at Mt 28:19-20 that says: “Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” First century Christians did not set at home on their butts they obey Jesus’ commands; because this was the way God choose to spread Christianity. Read Romans 10:10-15 for yourself, that says: “For with the heart one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration for salvation.11 For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for there is the same Lord over all, who is rich to all those calling upon him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”
One other scripture is Matthew 24:14 that says the “good news of the kingdom will be preached to the entire inhabited earth and then the end will come.” Who do you think would do this work? Jesus was talking to true Christians as he was in the other scriptures quoted above; so if I was one of the millions who profess to be a follower of Christ, instead of complaining about those who are out doing this work; I would worry about why aren’t you out doing this work. Paul says at 1Cor 9:16: “If, now, I am declaring the good news, it is no reason for me to boast, for necessity is laid upon me. Really, woe is me if I did not declare the good news”!
If you aren’t a Christian or interested in the bible then ignore what I say, I could care less if you’re a wiccan or a Indian witch doctor; I don’t talk bad about anyone, but I don’t, and don’t have to, except that your way of life is acceptable to God; and yes I realize that most people don’t care but I just do as my master has commanded and put the word out there. As Jesus said at John 6:44: “44 No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him;…”. So it is not my job to convert, that’s job belongs to Jehovah God.
thank you for these words i hope you find your redemption you crave i will not argue with you as "gods truth" holds no validity for me being the only thing that i have of his proof is the written word of corrupt men we have more chance of finding big foot than we do finding "god" although i am not totally athiest but as you said you dont care and that my friend may be the problem why would you not care if my soul burns in eternal damnation if that is where i am heading? that was the very point of my post that most people especially those wrapped up in their religions do not give a hoot about other peoples problems or needs since they are so snugg and smugg in their own personal salvation both physically and spiritually to reach out a hand to others in need other than what their spiritual path demand them to do and sometimes even not that! i am not trying to pick a fight i am simply pointing out that to really change the way things are we must all change our perceptions of right and wrong . do you know what the definition of insanity is? it is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result and religious dogmatic views are one of them it is not working there is no mutual understanding i feel sorry for you since blind faith is still blind i choose to have my eyes wide open and aware you would save more people by feeding the multitude than spewing old worn out scriptures thats all and as for opinion vrs word of god does it not say to look into your heart ?? and i listen to my own heart not the rantings of kings and priest and from there is where my words come so i thank you and bid you good day for it is better to die standing than live on your knees!
thank you richard as do i many blessings to you for your kindness i am not interested in any conversion but may your path be full of joy and peace
again here christine I agree with everything you wrote..is what I was attempting to say,tho I see I did not do so as eloquently as you have..I was attempting to say..well everything you just did..thank you
and YES I care, is why I am here on ipeace..I care deeply for all people this planet and all living upon her..
I wish to see more people here having caring dialog..that is all. I dislike what creates division amongst us all..wish to see more of what creates unity ,that was what I meant in previous posts..and wanted you to know i felt your words to be just that, caring, honest dialog..again thank you..
Respectfully with much peace & love in my heart ..
(this reply did not go where intended, should be under your post from 6hrs or so ago..)
Hi Christine, I appreciate your correction, I should have been a little more careful in how I worded things, It is hard as you to always put our correct thoughts and feelings into words that others get the same meaning out of. That being said, I also think that if we read without giving people bad motive that this helps also. When I said that “If you aren’t a Christian or interested in the bible then ignore what I say, I could care less if you’re a wiccan or a Indian witch doctor;” my next words were, “I don’t talk bad about anyone, but I don’t, and don’t have to, except that your way of life is acceptable to God;”. I don’t know how you read into this that I don’t care about anyone’s’ future salvation? It says I don’t care what they are; I don’t talk bad about them. Anyway, sorry that you misunderstood my meaning; sorry that I did not express myself better.

I should have also made clear that the rest of my comments were not directed to you personally, but to others on the forum. Sorry, again. As far as the rest of your comments are concerned, yes I agree with some of what you say. But you are assuming that Jehovah’s Witnesses are the same as other religions and I assure we are not. And, I am not trying to preach to you but since you are questioning my motives, let me tell you a few things that it does not sound like you know. Jehovah’s Witnesses are the only group of people throughout the world that, because of being taught by God’s word (Isaiah 48:17) live together in peace as a family regardless of one’s background or ethnic background. We do not go to war for any government period. There are hundreds of JW”S in prison all over the world because we refuse to kill our fellow man, in other countries are religious activities are under ban for the sole reason we teach others to live peacefully also (the governments do not want people to live peacefully, they want people that will go to war and fight to maintain the status of their governments). Outside of government, most of our persecution through the decades comes from the Catholic and Orthodox Church who works hand in hand with government to maintain their status quo while lying to their followers about what the bible really teaches. Up until the nineteen sixties the church was still fighting to keep the bible in the common language out of the hands of the people. At the same time no other religion has as good a reputation for their educational campaign that has helped millions to change their lives for the better, becoming citizens who can contribute positively to society because they have ceased being drug addicts, alcoholics and those who abuse and or desert their families. The thing that you overlook is that true religion does benefit people even today while we wait for our everlasting salvation, we become better neighbors who do care and help our fellowman. I might also mention that we spend our own money in going and talking to people and educating people, no church pays us for our time and effort. No other religion cares enough for their fellowman to do this.

I am sorry, but Jesus said we would always have the poor with us, so no; trying to feed the poor is not the answer, because it is not a permanent solution for the problems facing the world. Jesus taught people to put their faith in God’s kingdom because it is a government that will bring permanent solutions; this is where we teach people to put their faith and trust. As far as your comments on the bible I will not even answer because you just mimic the thoughts of others who have not really taken the time to study where the bible comes from or whether it is inspired of God or not.It sounds like you base your conclusions on the fact that religion has done nothing for the people and this is exactly what we try to get people to see. But, just one point on whether the bible is inspired or not, Isaiah 40:22 speaks of the earth as being a “circle”, thousands of years before man came to view it that way. And Job 26:7 says: “He is stretching out the north over the empty place, hanging the earth upon nothing”. These are minor points true when it comes to proving whether the bible is true but never the less they are points that man has only recently (relative to history) come to prove.
Sorry christine, I think you miss understood me? as in my comment,(which did not go under yours in tread) I was agreeing with YOU , all I wrote with your name in bold, was to say I liked what you wrote and agreed with you..the rest of comment was in fact directed to others..
and in general..about so much division created by topics of religion and the "recruiting souls" was yes directed to others who constantly leave lengthy posts with quote after quote from bible,or other personal beliefs ,choices and opinions I rarely ever discuss mine as is my beliefs, opinions and is not relevant to anyone else but me. I also said I respect all others choices & beliefs and I would appreciate the same respect,to me that is not trying to prove another's belief is more valid than mine. I have yet to see in any discussion of religion where
everyone is accepting and respectful of other's ,why I said what I did about unity not division.
Again, I am truly sorry that I may not have been clear enough in my comment- that I liked what YOU said and agreed with YOU christine..
With much respect...
That is not very peaceful, tolerant caring dialog Richard. Quite rude really..
I do not wish to argue or create division here,is not nor was my intent. Your truth & beliefs are just that, yours. I respect your deep beliefs,as seem to mean a great deal to YOU,, it does not to me. Nor am I interested in conversion by anyone. I am not writing in lengthy detail wat my beliefs are, except that I care, respect, and wish to see more discussion & dialog on ipeace that creates unity and caring understanding.
That is all.
Peace and many blessings of love..for all..
Anything wrong with wanting and hoping we can create this?
A true loving global family..this is what I wish for, work for am here for..
