WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO. === PLEASE READ

We are active volunteers from all over the world who welcome new members to the iPeace network. We use a pre-written message - you do NOT write your own. We work from 5 minutes to a few hours at a time several times a week or more often when we find it necessary. We don’t have rigid schedules and all help is much appreciated!

FOR NEW MEMBERS of the WELCOME TEAM

A team member will be happy to help you get started. Here is what you should do:

Leave a comment on the Comment Wall below to indicate that you've read this. If we do not see a comment from you, we will assume you did not understand that this is a working group and we may then remove you as a member. We do that to have an accurate count of the pool of active volunteers.
Open the attached file at the end of the Please use THIS code for welcoming discussion below, and save it on your computer's desktop, or as a draft somewhere, in a place that works best for you.
Replace the yyy with your name, in the signature at the bottom of the code you saved on your computer.
Before starting to welcome new members, please go to the Practice posting the code here discussion. As a direct reply to that discussion, paste a copy of what you've saved on your computer. This way, we can all see whether it will look exactly as it should when you welcome a new member.
Then please indicate on the Comment Wall that you've put a practice copy in Practice posting the code here. Mention there if you notice any problems.
Please do not start welcoming new members until a more experienced member of the team has ok'd your sample.
Then you will be ready to paste the code you've saved in each new member's comments box, replacing the XXX, after the Hello near the top, with the new member's name.

FOR ALL MEMBERS of the WELCOME TEAM

Once you have proved that you can use the Standard Welcome Code, here is what you should do:

Please visit this team page often, even when you are not welcoming. You can chat with other members, catch up on any new info, ask questions, or just unwind and relax with the friends you make here.
Indicate on the Comment Wall below when you are ready to do some welcoming. If nobody is actively welcoming, look for the last comment posted below on the Comment Wall with the name of the last new person welcomed. You will begin to the left of that person, working right to left, bottom to top. This way all new members get welcomed in the order they became members and avoids anyone being by-passed.
Note that the newest member of iPeace is the member on the left of the top row of the Members page.
When you stop welcoming, indicate on the Comment Wall below who the last new member you've welcomed is.

This is an active group. That is why any member who remains inactive for one month or more, without justification, may be banned from the welcome team. Do not be hurt or alarmed if you were banned from this group simply because you were not active. We do that because it is the only option available to the Administrators of the group that Ning.com offers to enable the removal of inactive members. We wish to maintain the 'working' aspect of the group. If you want to take an active role in the group again just contact a member of the Administration and your membership of the group will be reinstated.

SPAM: As iPeace grows, spamming will also unfortunately grow. Without the Welcome Team actively checking new members pages, we can not identify all of the spammers. Please report suspected spammers here Reporting this to administration or in the Members Spamming discussion below.

Comment by Les Derbyshire on May 9, 2010 at 1:43am: Leah, if you go to the Message for Spammers conversation above and scroll down the first page almost to the end, you will see a message with a red flag in it. Just below that you will see my post with the html code for that message. Copy that code and use it to post for spammers. You may find it helpful to paste it first into a Word document and keep it in a place where you can easily access it. Don't forget to insert the spammer's name and your own in the appropriate places. If I can be of any further help, just say so. Les.

Honorary "spammer slammer" for the Welcome team ;) Maria, I just wrote Vicky about confidence and Favourty today..I was going to write you Maria,but it was Vicky last reported on confidence..and I saw her Back, spamming all day!
I'll have to learn the code for red flagging,or I will just post a note for someone to red flag..or post the link on spam discussion ? Just let me know,okay.
