The iPeace network now works and relies on the NING platform.  Until now, basic services were free and advanced services were not. David Califa established iPeace and used to pay directly for some NING services.  We are all grateful to David for that.

Recently, NING has decided to charge for all its services. There is more information here: http://about.ning.com/announcement

The options NING is offering are at: http://about.ning.com/announcement/plans.php.  Because iPeace has more than 150 members, the only viable options for maintaining iPeace at NING are:

  1. NING PLUS which costs $19.95/month or $199.95/year, or
  2. NING PRO which costs $49.95/month or $499.95/year.

There is some related general discussion here:  http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/ning-update-introducing-ning .

It is now up to the current active members of iPeace to determine NOW whether and how the iPeace network and its community are maintained.

Um.. I did Steph..sorry but that was one thing that I did chose to keep to myself until Paul (THANKYOU!!!!!) just wrote it. Yes, I follow ALL things ipeace, including on facebook..though last I looked the facebook cause for ipeace did not have quite that much raised..I just spoke with Des today about facebook causes, I had not seen the ipeace in a bit or much with Facebook causes in a while. I was on my way there next to check on it & all money raised.
I was 1 of many who blasted ipeace cause when was 1st created and was featured on my profile for very long time! I did not write about this here due to,well guess I thought best not to go poking my nose into it.
I was waiting, hoping David would disclose this information voluntarily on here..somewhere!!
Every question you asked Steph are same as us all. We do deserve answers to each, imho..
Paul, will do..am starting blasting away...here & facebook..ready set..go
Hello Maria!

I just had a look at the cause pages. I will have to look at them again, but it looks as if the $8537 has been received by 2 different causes.

iPeace for Peace in the Middle East
http://www.causes.com/causes/190745

Mercy Corps received $2,915
UNITED PALESTINIAN APPEAL INC received $152
UNITED PALESTINIAN APPEAL INC received $5,290

This is a total of $8537 received and donated - at least that is how it looks to me. However, I have not had enough time to look over the facebook cause site to fully understand how it operates, so it will take a little more time for me to look over it - am a bit tired today, as am just back from Ireland, but will look at it asap.

Hope you're well Maria!
Hugs,
Des. :)
Hi Hun, I was just posting too, reply to Paul. One thing I wrote just now is that the cause
is not dedicated to ipeace NING site, so donations are not for the running of ipeace,as I understand from what I read.
So, ipeace ning is not the recipient of the money Paul posted as total $8,537

* see my comment lower on page.
Paul, I believe that you should (could, would?) copy and paste the above onto a blog.... with a title like READ THIS IMPORTANT REGARDING MONEY TO IPEACE or something like that...whatchathink?
Paul, This statement for the cause...

Let's make our cause huge!
Posted by David Dudi Califa on Apr 8

iPeace for Peace in the Middle East To end 100 years of conflict between the Arabs and the Jews Let's make our cause the biggest drive for peace in the ME. Make a habit to invite 60 new friends every day. Peace

Does NOT actually in any way say the donations go to running ipeace ning network?!?! So, means money can go anywhere deemed needed for Peace in Middle East!
Another Question into add to monetary transparency, How much goes to running ipeace NING site,if any?

And , David has removed me from his friends list. I was still in his friends just recently??,so I cant see any of his profile pg. Status updates on Facebook any longer. :(
psst! I just wrote a blog about 11 things I got from iPeace and 10 I gave...
I was going to put it on here as a commercial break, but then changed my mind

if you are in the mood for a commercial, check it out...
delete this Paul in a few hours, as you wish
thanks
Stephanie
Will do Steph! I cud use a commercial break after I just wrote long pots, my net connection dropped, I copied my post, then pc froze up..rebooted,lost comment & ning glitch just now let me get back on here, log in & to this page, all took an hour..sigh
Now rewriting..in a sec or so
I have been blasting link to hear, aded as short blog on blogging ipeace group & on it's wall( David;s group)
going for lunch & read Steph..back to rewrite my comment after..
Love
Well, this is the first I knew of it. I just joined the cause on facebook after seeing the link. According to that, the $8000 has been donated to MercyCorps, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

What is needed is more transparency between members, administrators, and David Califa. People should speak their mind on any and all issues, e.g., the issue of a lack of understanding of how iPeace operates. I've been here since the beginning, nearly 2 years ago, and its only today for the first time, I have learned that $8000 dollars has been donated. What I do not understand is why this has not been made clear within the site, or on the home page until now, since people have been asking questions for quite some time now.

A simple statement of the costs incurred in the running of the site, would be very helpful in giving confidence to those we wish to bring to the site to help, to donate and to spread a message of peace throughout the world.

To me, in a situation where a very large network like iPeace is essentially regulated by one person, as the network creator, this necessitates a greater level of transparency so that all of us, old and new, can understand clearly what the mission and purpose is.
Good words Des, and you too Leah
Dear people,

I am following this discussion.

The last thing that I'd like to do is to close iPeace down, but as you can figure out to yourself my little fund raising turned out to be less than stellar,

We don't need much. If we raise anything between 500 to 1000 Dollars iPeace will continue to exist for at least another year.

Maybe you people can help get this fund rasing going. (you can do it here, facebook and anywhere else you see fit)

cheers

David
David,
I am on your side of the world...and so can answer quickly as many others on this forum are still asleep.
Are you saying that only 1000 dollars are needed to make iPeace exist for another year?
Can't you write that on HOMEPAGE and ask everyone to send in a dollar...That way iPeace can continue for MANY years.
If this is what is needed, can we together compose a nice inviting way to receive this money and then we put it on homepage?' What do you think?
VERY WONDERFUL TO SEE YOUR WRITING UP HERE!!! And to know you are present, comunicating and following this important discussion.
Thanks David for creating this incredible place for the world to meet, discuss, compare and work on peace together.
Stephanie
