The iPeace network now works and relies on the NING platform.  Until now, basic services were free and advanced services were not. David Califa established iPeace and used to pay directly for some NING services.  We are all grateful to David for that.

Recently, NING has decided to charge for all its services. There is more information here: http://about.ning.com/announcement

The options NING is offering are at: http://about.ning.com/announcement/plans.php.  Because iPeace has more than 150 members, the only viable options for maintaining iPeace at NING are:

  1. NING PLUS which costs $19.95/month or $199.95/year, or
  2. NING PRO which costs $49.95/month or $499.95/year.

There is some related general discussion here:  http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/ning-update-introducing-ning .

It is now up to the current active members of iPeace to determine NOW whether and how the iPeace network and its community are maintained.

In Swedish We Have a Word for fighters like you. We Call Them, Fire-Soul * smile *
Like I Have Been a Fire-Soul For the children you are for iPeace. That's the baby you helped with the delivering and now it has grown and You have to watch your kid facing such an uncertain futures. And as any caring parents, I can ser that You are giving everything to try to secure the futures of this your child.

Seen from a distance, i have just one question;
Why isn't the Child With its parents?

seen from a distance
Sorry I still have no pc so my comment became à bit up and down :) Hope it was possible to understand anyway. I just have such a strong wish to try to support you all.
Your engagement has touched me so..
Very Good question dear gunilla..and one many have, why? Is so good to see/read your wise words here ! I like that Swedish word..Fire-Soul. Yes,that You are..and so am I..Smiles back to you :))
Hi Gunilla, never heard that phrase before, and yes, you are one, so is Leah, so am I, and Joni and lots of us on here...I like it...fire-soul! :)
i'm happy to have given, the rich English language, three new words ; "dandelion children" "barefoot children" and "fire-soul" ;)
...and having money to pay a bunch of bastards who already grab a lot of money from their sales to advertisers, from partenrs and from sponsorers.

submitting to ning harrassment and paying them the price they have imposed to former netcreators is just absurd.

just to inform, ning is opening an exception to schools and have allowed them to stay for free.
A lot of brain-storming is going on here. It helps us get our ideas straightened out about what needs to be done, what problems there are, what we are hoping for on this site.
For me sometimes to think "IS is the right way to go about things?" I try to compare these problems to something simplier, like a family, something to make it easier to understand if all this effort is worth it!
Gunilla talked about the child and parents, and I too am thinking....
If we make a list of "Things I like and dislike on iPeace" (as Maria suggested, thank you) and then we come up with the list....what will be done with that list?
IS THIS LIKE COMPARING THE FOLLOWING....
A family with 10 children, but from a family where the parents are only home once in a while, let's say, one day a month...anyhow, if these children make a list "What I like and dislike about this family" and they work on it, discuss between themselves, write lists, come to agreements about what things are really important AND they think "Now that we have found out what questions are really really important, and how to improve this family, now what do we do? Wait for our parents to show up once next month? Keep working on the problems? Forget it all because we don't like using all this energy, not getting credit for all our effort, and as children, NEED to know thatwhat we are doing is good for the family, in order to psychologically get satisfaction for all our effort.....
well,
I tried to find a way to make OUR problems similar to a family...
and if the above is an example, a valid one, I would say that the children probably will be quite frustrated, because without their parents who have the power in their household to really make things happen, their words will just be words that get the family no where.
Tell me if I am wrong.
ps
My thoughts about the real problem with peace in the world is comunication.
When there is none, we really don't know what is going on. We guess, we can even guess wrong...we can never really know what the other person is thinking, thus, this creates a huge mound of confusion between people. In this particular case on this site, MANY OF USE ARE USING MUCH OF OUR TIME to try to create a better place HERE.
Not in the world, but on this site.
Until we know what is going to be done with our good intentions, if our hopes for a better iPeace are appreciated, I think that we should just wait and hear if our words and time and effort is worth it.
We all have things to do, people to care for, ourselves to look out for, our goals, our families, our lives.
iPeace enriches my life, but I don't want to waste time...if it is not getting things anywhere in the end. Comunication....THAT is the problem here, the base of the problems whatever they are.
lots of interesting thoughts, Wang, good ideas and you know lots of things that are important to a site like this.
I am feeling though that there has to be the creation of an administration with several people having duties and a basis that we know is there to lean on, go to when necessary, and count on.
Better get back to other work for this evening...but >I often find all this comunication quite fascinating...it does look like it could get us somewhere......but it takes so much patience...
No i do not think it is worth it. Maybe 20 out of 22.000 do care What does that tells us? À hurtful truth, but the reality. What i find impotant is that the "fire-souls" stay together. They can create miricals where ever they are. Twenty thirty of them can do much more than 21.900 inactive members.
Such interesting differences in our opinions. And that is just what group needs!
Lots of people like to be drifting along...without really worrying, working and mainly without making waves! People don't want to put themselves in the spotlight for perhaps showing any faults, it may make them look bad!
Of course, when people don't take risks, things stay the same, and when things stay the same, problems don't get solved.
Both of you have interesting points, and I know your hearts are in this too....it's funny just how important this site has been for so many people all over the globe. That is why it is important it continues.
I agree here too. gunilla, Wang,Stephanie...very interesting to read you :) I think it has been agreed in many places a small Admin active group needs established.( Not so much to , insofar as censorship or dictating what kind of content is acceptable..thank U Gordie)
But mainly to help ipeace run smoothly,peacefully,respectfully,etc..humming along, with some Admin.. that can manage the details of issues as they arise, possible fund raising if need be, answer questions,be visibly active, possible be able to post forum discussion(s) on main page for this type of communicating. Yes, I agree more communication needed,here..in the world in general. Open honest peaceful intentioned communication.
Also, agreed ipeace ning important it continues.
As far as transparency in donations, fund raising, absolutely as Des wrote as well as myself & Wang just reiterated. Is vital in the process where money donated is concerned.
Thank U David for at least adding those amounts under the donate button,as well as names(tho a couple people have mentioned not wanting their names added, anonymous)
Many questions remain and as Wang & I have said David is/or was following this Forum discussion. So hopefully once he has mulled it all over, answers should be coming?? To the questions that have yet to be replied to.
I like the Family analogy Stephanie, works for me.
Thank You Wang my friend for your words" Personally, I think its great you and Leah have been working to get more people here to this discussion" Doing what we can to get more involved. Though as Steph has said,as long as the discussion has become (24 pages now!) We need a condensed version with new Title. Steph, Me and Maria have so far volunteered to pull out all the main issues, questions.
.Paul If we do.. will you post it as You did this one?
Gotta' go friends, I'll be around but have work to do on getting codes learned correctly for Welcome Team,as Maria has been doing Welcoming, mostly alone for some time now.
Peace x
