REFLECTIONS

Yesterday ,is but a memory , so far ,yet so close ..
The thin thread that binds ‘was’ and ‘is ;
Is the realization.
The realization of mistakes,,of follies and sins of oneself ,,
The realization and atonement of deeds that can’t be undone,,
But can be contemplated and regretted upon .
This thread ,,,is the strongest ,,yet the weakest.
The strongest because of the ,,,
The enlightment that dawns upon us that sunrise n brightness will succeed the longest and darkest night which was filled with terror and destruction,,,,,,
The weakest because ,,,
For those of us who close our eyesand wonder why darkness prevailed ,,,,,
Today is here ,,right before us ,,as real as the blunders we made yesterday ,
It is here ,,but not here to stay ..
It is here for me to work upon ,,the follies made yesterday ,,
To make an improvement and find remedy of our mistakes ,,
Yesterday is but a memory ,,but today is right here before us ,,
Rise before today too becomes yesterday…..

I think that your poem makes such an important point about how change can and does occur. This is an important message for everyone but especially for children. I think it is important for them to learn and know that yesterday is finished, and that each and every day is a new beginning...a blank slate. The most critical steps that they take are right now. I am a high school English teacher, so your poem really speaks to the on-going message that I try to teach. Beautiful poem!
