Encounter in Conflict (SfP - Wahat al-Salam ~ Neve Shalom)

A one day workshop introducing the method of encounter used in the School for Peace (SfP) in Wahat al-Salam ~ Neve Shalom (between Palestinians and Jews), as well as practically proposing unique suggestions for your own work or studies here in Britain. For attending teachers and youth workers a fully approved British education resource will be provided, which has featured in The Times Educational Supplement, R.E. Today, and is recommended by a variety of professional bodies such as DEA.

Other professionals and students are being introduced to innovative and powerful tools in work with and between two or more different communities. It therefore also suits professionals in local and national bodies, mediators, health care professionals, community workers and engineers as well as lawyers and lecturers.

The course will include:

Introduction to the method of the School for Peace in Palestinian / Jewish encounter. These include work with unbalances of power-relations between the participants in dialogue, based on post-colonial and psychological model theories as well as questions regarding the interpersonal and the inter group conflict.

Thinking behind the concepts both for work as well as for yourself.

Examples and Grasping of concepts through physical role play

Lesson planning for teachers (in separate group)

Thinking through applications in your own spheres.

This day is most rewarding one day injection of thought for anyone working with groups that are unbalanced and sometimes in conflict.

The British Friends of Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al Salam are a UK registered charity (290062) supporting Wahat al Salam~Neve Shalom, which is a cooperative village in which both Palestinians and Jews live side by side since the early 1970s.
