Religion is not the problem, but a solution

Our goal as a group is to foster knowledge, understanding, and cooperation. If you also believe that religion is part of the solution, join us.

I believe that all religions originated from a single divine source, but that their messages have been manipulated and corrupted by self-serving leaders over time. That is why religions can now be used to manipulate people into hatred and fear of others. Some of us are opening our eyes and our minds to this and are reaching out to others of different faiths. The more we grow to recognize our commonalities, the more peace will grow within us. Then we can slowly begin to spread peace and understanding to members of our community, and from there to build bridges from our community to others. Who knows what changes this will lead to? It seems a good place to start. A pebble dropped will soon affect the whole pond. This is my pebble.

Every act of love is a work of peace, no matter how small.

A peace affirmation:
Peace within allows me to flow without and creates a continuum of energy that moves my soul on a clear pathway; this is my journey- this becomes me.

“Making peace between two aggrieved parties is better than ritual prayer, fasting and almsgiving”

This was sent to me by my friend Rebecca from 29 days.

Live in Joy, In love,
Even among those who hate.

Live in joy, In health,
Even among the afflicted.

Live in joy, In peace,
Even among the troubled.

Look within. Be still.
Free from fear and attachment,
Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

~

There is no fire like greed,
No crime like hatred,
No sorrow like separation,
No sickness like hunger of heart,
And no joy like the joy of freedom.

Health, contentment and trust
Are your greatest possessions,
And freedom your greatest joy.

Look within. Be still.
Free from fear and attachment,
Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

A some beautiful quotes from Mohandas Gandhi:

"Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances."

"I know to banish anger altogether from one's breast is a difficult task. It cannot be achieved through pure personal effort. It can be done only by God's grace."

"We win justice quickest by rendering justice to the other party."

"We should meet abuse by forbearance. Human nature is so constituted that if we take absolutely no notice of anger or abuse, the person indulging in it will soon weary of it and stop."

"To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest."

"Whatever you do may seem insignificant to you, but it is most important that you do it."

Thanks Lucy, I checked out all of Father Bowes blogs on peace and was especially moved by "In Hope of Peace," "All Religions Need More Spirituality," and "The Amish Girls Forgive While We are Hypocrites." I like his open-minded honesty. More of this is needed in the world. Here is the link to all his blogs on peace:

Aloha... Rev Angelica Taggert, a SOM minister wrote; "When we really begin to understand that we are created to live an authentic Life, with prosperity, health, creativity, and Love; our conssciousness becomes a magnet for our good."

From the Quran-

"...if any one slew a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land, it would be as if he slew the whole people; and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people." [Quran 5:32]
