I started this for Michael as he did not know how to start a discussion

A message from Michael Sullivan to all members of Gaia Mother Earth,Gaia Madre Tierra on iPeace!

I was unable to discover how to get a discussion going, so I chose to send a message.

"Gaia" is the Anglicized verson of Gaea, the ancient Greek Earth Goddess. Nature has often, and still is, represented in the female form but I think it's time to stop slamming men for destruction of our planet, as the lengthy essay posted here does. While that may have been the case in the past, a growing number of men around the world are working dilligently to undo the damage -- probably more men than women.  So, let's get away from gender bashing and work together to create a better world.

Thanks. I just joined and was unable to figure out how to respond to the essay on the home page, which contains derogatory comments about how men have wrecked the planet. I've heard that over and over again until I'm sick of hearing it. What's past is past.
You are welcome.

I am sure that you will get a good response.
Thanks, Sue and Michael! It's so cool that by working together, you started this discussion.

I guess I didn't notice any slamming of men. Maybe there was a statement or two that might seem like it was blaming men, but I took them to refer to 'man' as the commonly used reference to our species, not to those of us in the male gender. And the overall essay's theme didn't seem to me to be about blaming men more than women.
I often refer to 'what man has done' when I actually mean 'what the human race has done'.

It's a good topic for discussion though... :)
I may be overly sensitive to this because, for the past year or so, I've been running into women who are heavily invested in the "goddess" pheonomenon. Without exception (five women so far), they tend to blame men for everything that's wrong in the world and actually see women as superior. They're unable to see the irony of this gender chauvinism.
I suggest that, instead of using "man" in a generic sense, people substitute the word "humanity."
It's all about being is balance, peace and harmony within Creation.
This is a choice that can be made by man and woman.
In my country there are also many man that are aware and sensitive.
We have to accept the darkside inside all of us, before we realize we can transforme it into peace and harmony.
If we believe in peace then we believe in ONE humanity, we should love working together and help eachother!
That is exactly my point. Thank you Petra.
I think it just man is in himself, who is blind can do about things he later regrets.
"Man" as in humanity?
Bashing and peace do not belong together. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from so many of you you are knowledgeable and wise. Blessings and peace to all.
I agree. But I wonder if you were referring to what I said when you wrote this:
"Enlightened men do not see women as gender-bashers."
I certainly was not referring to all women -- just the few I mentioned, which was related to the essay in question.
Enlightened men speak the Truth as they see it.
This is what I was referring to:

"How come when I call the Earth the name Gaia, Gaia, we see a woman? I am a woman, so ask a question drop me. Of course! Mother Earth. We are stewards of God's creation, and we are not supposed to abuse her. Unfortunately, to dominate the form of economy that is capitalism, which gobble up everything, including Gaia.
God, man is destroying their natural habitat ---
The forests, rivers gritam stop
Mother Nature, helps to expand our respect for the environment
And our quest for balance between the masculine and feminine energies
For, instead of competing
Working together for the good of individual and collective.
In nature is all the wisdom of God
A legacy of the man"
