=)

Greetings from generally sunny Boulder Co. We average 300 sunny days per year.

Summers are short and mellow, winters are sort of long and on the wet snowy windy side...

Boulder is near Denver, the state capital of Colorado.

Now, exciting news is unfolding! The Peace Room is launching in Boulder, Colorado to empower local action teams to have a global impact. This room is a template to see what works, and can be duplicated in new Peace Rooms. Teams are forming around each of the 15 major conflict areas as well as the Long Term Solution (GPT Global Peace Treaty). If you've always wanted to be part of an influential dream team making a BIG impact: send us an email to be contacted when these teams form. PeaceTeams@P5Y.org

About P:5Y

Peace in 5 Years (P:5Y) is a global collaboration to create world peace in five years.

Starting with our launch on February 14, 2009 until the deadline of February 14, 2014, P:5Y collaborators will work in the areas of media, marketing, global project management software, grassroots organizing, and a Global Peace Treaty to effectively and measurably put an end to politically organized violence.

The world has the knowledge, resources, and tools--including global communications networks--to create peace. If we continue to tolerate war as a legitimate means of conflict resolution, we risk continued misery, global problems, and even total destruction of our species (and many others).

Amber LuptonNathan Otto

The co-founders of P:5Y, Amber Lupton and Nathan Otto, conceived giving peace a deadline on February 10, 2008.

In the past year they have introduced P:5Y at an international peace conference in Prague and traveled around the world to speak with global leaders and dignitaries--such as F. W. de Klerk, Václav Havel, and the Dalai Lama--and groups of philanthropists about the best contribution they could make to the world.

This resulted in their book, Give Peace a Deadline: What Ordinary People Can Do To Cause World Peace in Five Years, as well as the formation of P:5Y. (You can download a free ebook copy of the book here.)

There are four cornerstones to creating peace in five years. These are R-I-C-E:

* Reposition “world peace” in the mainstream as achievable, clear, simple, and necessary. Take it out of the doveish wimpy political trap: war is limp, peace is sexy.
* Include Everyone: right, left, peacemakers, politicians, global leaders, locals, warlords, hairdressers, rednecks, farmers, pilots, intellectuals--everyone. Generate intense interest and momentum.
* Collaborate: increase collaboration among individuals, NGO’s, governments, agencies, universities, corporations, and the military to coordinate and complement peace efforts.
* Ease of Use: make the practices of peace safety user-friendly and easy to understand, and create global peace management tools that answer the question for anyone “what can I do for world peace?” Help people make meaningful, measurable, and accountable commitments with deadlines.

P:5Y demands world peace by February 14th, 2014. We have developed a non-profit concept, effort, cause, and movement inspiring all citizens of the world, in all facets of life, to commit action towards an innovative, planned peace "epidemic."

P:5Y officially launches February 14, 2009 and is committed to the deadline for world peace safety of February 14, 2014 as measured by The Economist newspaper.

P:5Y is a social movement dedicated to changing perceptions globally and inspiring a new and bold way of thinking about what peace is and how to attain it.

Welcome to P:5Y!
