Thanks for posting this Heidi. Perhaps it would be helpful to divide them into the five sections to make it easier to relate to.

This dialogue of Israelis and Palestinian is interesting as while it brings together Israelis and Palestinians who share a general common vision, it also highlights the complexities involved.

I admire these people for the thoughts, ideas and cooperation that helps put out an important journal and that increase diaologue, generates new perspective, etc.
Even in this forum personal/national agendas seem at least implicit in some of the suggestions and exchanges.

I will point out two, one in "each direction"..I wonder if the particpants explored these with each other in more depth..

Concerning the Refugee issue:
Simha notes that :There is little discussion concerning the Jewish refugees that fled Arab lands/countries to settle in Israel and their descendents"

Although this remark is not quoted in context, it seems to linik and comparethe Palestinian refugee problem and that of Jews from Arab countries. Perhaps a "solution" to the refugee problem will take into account these "counter claims", but linking them together is a slight to the unique and crucial issue of Palestinain refugees, national rights, etc.

Concernging the present situation:
"Gershon notes that he has been in contact with Fatah members..who do not want the violence to stop in Gaza until Hamas is eliminated.
Ziad responds that this is a popular Israeli fabrication ..."

Gershon is reporting about his personal contacts with Fatah members..Ziad merely brushes him off with the pat answer, "Israeli fabrication." (Ziad's conclusion about Hamas great support, however, may very well be correct.)
