O one who hears from far and wide all of the world's cries.
Enlightened Buddhist deity she is graced with a sweet smile.
O Devi soaring high up across the heavens and azure skies.
Whose name smells sweeter than musk, who reaches across the miles.
The poor child that's on the street is begging for alms and love.
And the prostitute starving at the signal needs safety from above.
They need your whole-i-ness, grace, mercy, blessings and loveWith a shower of your tender compassion drizzling from above.
O Buddha whose breasts overflowed with milk in times long gone byAnd mixed with her blood to fill the ears of rice plants so high.
For she could not see mankind suffer and of sharp starvation dieIn times hard and uncertain, she swallows every single tear and sigh.
O Goddess on the lotus leaf and with a heart of the purest gold,When legends speak of compassion, of Kuan Yin we'll be told!
