Love this topic, something written about in Tree's last piece. Interesting to hear (worldwide!) what people find and what people throw away (and later wish they hadn't!)

Though I tend to write a lot on this subject because I have so much fun taking trash and turning it into treasures,
I just want to thank my ex-wife here who really got me started doing this.
You see, some people throw away perfectly working things or in perfect shape,
others may throw things away that are broken and just need to be fixed...
But what she threw away really blew my mind!

I got my start when my ex-wife threw away,
a perfectly good HUSBAND !
(Something my current wife "of 10 years" says she is grateful for)
: ) OR SHOULD i SAY : ) !!!!!
ROCKING CHAIR

MY very best find was finding a beautiful American style rocking chair, left out at the trash at the end of our street. I was SHOCKED to see it sitting there, in almost perfect condition. Luckily I got the help of my daughter to take our dog who I had been walking, and drove home to get the car, put it in, and now, it is in our living room, where it has been for years....and making a lovely addition to our house.
Who in their right mind would have thrown that away!!!???
I am so glad they did! When they get their senses back, the probably will realize what a mistake they made!
MARKETPLACE PERUGIA ITALY

There is a marketplace on Saturdays in Perugia, the small town I live in. It's a hilltown, beautiful really, but often one does not see the beauty as strongly as if you had just arrived here....I have been here so many years now, most of my life. I take it for granted. Many have left Perugia, going to find career jobs in other places. But many stay, and because of my husband's work, we have always been here though we are lucky to travel, often with him due to his work.
On Saturdays there is a wonderful, fun, vibrant marketplace. They sell everything...mostly I enjoy buying fruits and vegetables, grown by farmers nearby. The things are much nicer than in the supermarket and often the zucchini are smaller, the salads are more varied, the vegetables here are more unusual. You can see that they have been looked over with LOVE! The colors are fabulous....the variety, eye-opening!
Also, there are several sellers of old clothes. Used clothes. But often the things are just in the used piles, but you can see that they are new (perhaps stock from overbuying, or last pieces in a department store).
One week they had an incredible "sale". All coats and jackets were only 5 euro!...UI think that is about 7.50 dollars...and that is not much! I saw and tried on three coats (one shorter, more like a big jacket) and they are gorgeous!! One I will give to my daughter, it was made in France and the workmanship is amazing.
I often think, upon seeing these things, what story did that coat have? Who did it belong to? How could they have given it away!!! I don't understand the wastefulness of it!! I never buy anything there without wondering about these things...about the coats story....or the blouse, or the scarf.....and I think...where is that person and why did they buy this to have it end up here. And the story of that blouse or coat continues....that person becomes part of my story. I love the feel of that. Intriguing. A mystery.
