Animal Cruelty has to stop.

I feel very strongly about animal cruelty. I think animals should be treated with just the same respect as us. It gets me very upset when i hear cases of animals being mistreated. Hearing on the way they are treated makes me very angry & upset.

Scooby: A place of hope for the hopeless

Dear Scooby Friends,

I’m just back from my 8th trip to Scooby and I was there from Jan. 23th to 26th; now I’m writing this update because I want to share something very pleasant with you. On the first photos below you can see one of the Sevilla dogs who was rescued by Scooby on Jan. 20th. He was in an extremely pitiful shape and also had his tail badly injured. That’s why he is called “Rabodog” (taildog) at Scooby. On Monday morning he was found dead in his basket. There were no longer any vital activities. If Tommaso, our vet, wouldn’t have been at the shelter, dog’s heaven would have a new citizen. But luckily he was and took quick action. He finally succeeded to get the dog back to life and kept him under intensive care in the clinic trailer for almost 3 weeks. Now, only 9 weeks later, I hardly believed my eyes. The dog can only be recognized by its partly amputated tail!! No mange anymore but a shiny coat, an acceptable weight, the tail completely healed…Incredible!

And then these two German Shepherds, let’s be honest, where else would dogs like them get a chance at all? They are not young, not pretty, they have Leishmania in an advanced state, they will be hard to rehome…When I took the photos in January they were permanently scratching themselves. It was horrible and Fermín said to me, “If we can’t improve their quality of life, we’ll have to euthanize them”. But it wouldn’t be Scooby if they wouldn’t at least give it a try! And they actually did improve a lot during these 9 weeks, no more itching, the coat is slowly growing, the sore skin started healing…

This is what Scooby can do for the dogs, but only with your support, and they need your support. We always need your support, but at this time it’s really urgent to help them meet the high costs for the Sevilla dogs. So please don’t hesitate and make a donation to one of the Scooby accounts or via PayPal!

Scooby is a wonderful shelter and really deserves all the help and support we are able to give because what they are doing there is animal welfare at its best.

A special thank you to Fermín and his soft heart that has been a blessing for so many animals throughout the years.

Christiane

By the way, there are a lot of nice Shepherds at the shelter, all waiting for a home. So if any Shepherd lover or Shepherd rescue is interested in helping Scooby to find homes for them, please get in touch!
