5 Ways to Find Happiness Within

Find happiness withinAlthough this article is about five ways to find happiness within, there is really only one way to access the feeling of happiness and that’s through your heart.
Happiness is about experiencing a deeper level satisfaction that comes from the Soul. When you try to find surface level happiness which comes from the Ego, the conditions in your life have to be great in order for you to feel good. That means you have to put your happiness in the hands of other people and things outside of yourself, which makes you dependent on those things and people to treat you perfectly all the time. When that doesn’t happen you become disappointed.
Following Your Heart to Happiness is about creating more happiness in your life by changing the way you feel inside. To instantly change the way you feel and engage your heart in a deeper level of satisfaction, consider choosing one of the following practices:
Kindness
Kindness means to be caring, consider and thoughtful without expecting anything in return. It means being kind just because you felt like it! Did you know that when you engage in kindness it increases the serotonin levels in your brain? Serotonin has been referred to as “The Chemistry of Well-Being.”
Generosity
Generosity means giving of yourself and your possessions; your time, your knowledge, your help, your money and your friendship. When you give those things it makes you feel abundant inside. You can’t give away what you don’t have, so in giving away these things it makes you feel like you have more of them. The more of them you have the better you feel. The better you feel the more of them you attract. It’s a win/win situation.
Gratitude
Gratitude means showing appreciation. A feeling of being thankful can only come when we consciously pay attention to the good things in our lives instead of always focusing on the bad. Condition yourself to pay attention to all the good things you seem to forget about. As Louise Hay once said “The more you are grateful for in your life, the more life gives you to be grateful for. “
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is the process of ceasing to feel resentment, guilt and shame toward yourself and others for perceived offenses, betrayals and mistakes made. Resentment keeps you from forgiving others. Guilt and shame keep you from forgiving yourself. Both are toxic to your body.
Respect
Respect means treating yourself and others with dignity. It means honoring the differences in people without judging. It means being loving to oneself and others without condemning or criticizing. The better you treat yourself and others, the more happiness you will experience.
Those five practices will engage your heart and lead to a deeper level of satisfaction than you ever thought possible.
Till next time….
