What can we do as a network of interested peace people to affect change towards peace?

Friends,
Our country spends as much as the whole rest of the world combined on its military effort. We spend nine times more per citizen than England. We have over 750 foreign military bases and two foreign wars going on at this time. It is bankrupting us in practical terms and it is immoral in measures on a higher level. I carry this with me as I face the youth each day as a school teacher. We have sold them into debt that they may never pay their way out of. When Bill Clinton left office he had stopped the rise of the national debt. He had shrunk the military spending 10% to 280 billion a year. This year it is going over 600 billion and that does not include the cost of the wars which our country has to borrow to continue. Our young men and women are half way around the world kicking in doors of citizens houses looking for weapons trying to communicate with people who speak different languages. It upsets me inside that we are still acting like vikings in this dawning age of Aquarius. As Parmanhansa Yoganada says "any person or country that stands against the laws of the Universe, will not stand for long". Lets put our heads and hearts together and seek ways that we can affect this. I have a couple of ideas to put forward. I will look forward to yours.

Thats a real hard one.
But one very easy answer stands out!. refuse to sell anything to america! Then the enticement to buy weapons will be gone. Nowadays, weapons are just about all amerika has to sell. Refusing to buy weapons is paramouint tio peace. The more weapons that are floating around, the more precarious peace is. So refusing to buy weapons is paramount. But then if everyone keeps selling to them everybody will end up with alot of extra u.s. currency, probably. Which will very quickly lose any value it might have left now, no matter what economic sleight-of-hand tricks (i.e., "white collar crime") they try.. So it's apparently necessary toi stop selling to them, too, in order to give peace any kind of chance.
Unfortunately certain elements may have grasped apparent world control, with various ..'globalization'.... (yeah, right...) ... 'agreements'... some countries have been buulied into agreeing to.

Excuse my simplistic thinking on this....(but maybe it's what we need to avoid self-annihilation)

Mr, Berthiaume

I am glad you feel what you can say about the. God he is how we can learn to love but ppl have to let God in ...America has to change before peace comes to America I see my country in problems peace has to start with them no more money being given we will never pay back what we so far had borrowed and if we keep on borrowing more what some one said on here we may never get out of the pickle barrel.. it is why the war thing has to stop and let leader talk to others,

Last I heard, The US government had decided to send the military another 700 billion a few months ago for their stupid wars. I am Canadian and proud to know that my government does not go that crazy.

I think all of us can support Obama by helping him to see what we can do
by talking to our senators is one writing letters. 2 or 3 emailing them or 4 call the Washington switch board like I had on some things . I think stopping this has to be done through supporting every one here only thing I can think of at this time
I know spending as to stop other countries are looking at us for what we are doing

Hello Michel,
I agree we must light the way, be the light. But our country moves ahead dropping bombs on human beings with money they take from my paycheck. I have written myletters to our leaders. Most Americans go into the Army now because they need a job or they they need to go to college and they see it as a avenue. when Jesus saw suffering did he just walk away or did he speak to the people who were causing it. I agree that we must not become violent our selves but we need to let our leaders knwo that we do not approve of what they are doing.
thank you,
George

To stop war, all you need is send Love to those need the must, be truthful with yourself. Do you realy want Peace... Be the Peace, There is no darkness when the Light is on. There won't be war if the Peace is on....
You have to accept some people need war, that is only place there fill good because there are the madness of there own life... let them find there Peace there way.... We don't need to stand where they are, just walk away from them...we all have the choise, be darkness or be the light, it is up to you to know what you realy want.... Be a Peaceful warrior.... God Bless you all.

Hey Bill, We will not know but please don't let that stop you from trying. Praying is a good thing but I see that he has authroized now two drone bombings in Pakistan, not a good sign of a peace maker.

How can we know that our welcome and support to the new President, Obama actually reaches him. I am hoping and praying that he will make the changes necessary to create peace on this planet
