John Lennon and Yoko Ono used their honeymoon at the Amsterdam Hilton, in March 1969, as a "Bed-in for Peace" that attracted world-wide media coverage. At the second "Bed-in" in Montreal, in June 1969, they recorded "Give Peace a Chance" in their hotel room. The song was sung by over half a million demonstrators in Washington, D.C. at the second Vietnam Moratorium Day, on 15 October 1969.

This group is dedicated to a shining star of iPeace ~ Beverley Anne Jones

I remember this time so well. In June 1969 i was in the Ashaw valley fighting organized NVA carrying Chinese weapons and dlriving chinese vehicles down the center of the valley. We heard nothing at all about the protests on USARV radio.
Then I was in a march outside Ft. Hood TX led by Jane Fonda in the spring of 1970. I was just back from Vietnam and most of the marchers were vets just back. There was a drummer up front somewhere... I was too far back to see ... just hear. This chant was going on over and over just like in the first video. I heard screaming and turned as two cowboys with baseball bats beat a vet to a pulp on the curb. They ran when a bunch of us headed for them. I don't know if he survived, but the tragedy of that hatred and misled violence has haunted me for nearly 40 years.

When Lennon was shot, I just went into a funk for days. It's very good that a site like this exists to keep his memory alive and fresh. It doesn't matter that he was a multi-millionaire British young drugee. He was filled with the right spirit and wanted to use his power and influence to point out the true nature of that war.

That all these years later America has become the aggressor and another misdirected, youth killing, money sucking vehicle for giving more power and money to that tiny percentage of really wealthy and powerful people in the world exists is a travesty.

We need a replacement symbol, an icon that can lead this same mission in a tighter, smaller, faster world than John lived in 39 years ago. One that knows they are risking assassination like all the other symbols of this movement.

The rapid growth of this site is just one more indication of the macrocosmic need. The election of Obama, and the rejection of the old school power monger party is another indication. Everyone here needs to pray for support for this movement from the new administration.
Peace and Love to all.

Hello everyone :-))
My name is Gill (pronounced like Jill) and I stumbled across this page by accident. I think a John Lennon group is a wonderful initiative.
Thank you for starting it.
In peace,
Gill (from Spain)
