First time, a friend of mine, Jeremy Lack from Geneva, told me about Non-violent Communication. It was almost two years ago. And a nice coinciedence happened when I came back to Turkey; I heard about a training on this matter. I took part in that. Since then, Non-violent Communication is part of our Mediation Training Programme.

I wanted to introduce this wonderful approach to ipeace members who are interested in communication with the Self first, then to others...Because like Peace starts first within ourselves and spreads further, or love, compassion, joy...So is communication.

The Dephoi had the right words: Know the Self.

The Non-violent communication is a great tool to reach our own needs, express them clearly and listen others and bring out their needs, too. That's the necessary step for mutual understanding.

I welcome you in this group for another step for Peace.

By means other than verbal much communication is shared,
through touch, through dance, through image, through music.
none of these engage the gabbling tongue. From stilling the voice of breath each gives rise to the light of understanding in the minds of onlookers.
Voice is such a complex element combining Will and Desire, the lust to know, to declare oneself through ones ideas, to prove the self. It is not for nothing we call the throat Adam's apple, nor see the fall as Pride.
Through the use of voice and verb and articulation, all too easily to give rise to argument in aggressive form, confrontation and conflict.
"But when I said this, I meant that "
In place of But we can use 'Yes..and..'. In place of Opinion we can substitute Experience and Grace, to allow each their own place in our great circle. Each validated by their own experience, independent of our interpretation of their remarks.
I do not stand upon your feet in dance but beside them and watch as we move to and fro.
