How can art and media be a stronger potential for open peacework?

I want to start a discussion from the above title. A dialouge where new thoughts rise and where inspiration flows through communication.

To put it simply Art & Media appears to get any message accross to a wider audience, I think art is very invocotve and makes people stop and look, if the art work has a message it gets people to think about what is being portrayed.

I completely agree ,art is another language, but also is an abstraction of an abstraction action.for example an sculptor pick a theme: feeling ,thought ,idea an traduce this in the language of "shape and color";so he is making a double-abstraction work! Not everybody can make this ,but the sculptor will be able to "communicate " his message with many others, and as big is the quantity of person he can transmit his message the more his prestige as "sculptor",as an "artist".
So...if many artist gather picking the theme PEACE,the impact and the resonance could be considerable for PEACE!!!
Also if many small simple sympathizers with art join their work just to upgrade the phenomenon, cold be wonderful!
If we consider art as a HEALTHY activity,as much as sport ,we should intensify efforts to deepen it expression.
Let's consider that if we do this we are unfolding the violence, the more people of the society we compromise in this task ,the more we revert the insane-violence-reflex-acquired by the society.

I think moving inspirational cultural expressions to the commons has a very great potential to help us achieve world peace in a merging concept what we aptly can call "peace culture". Since Peace is defined in Inner and Outer - actually in Swedish two sides of the same coin called "Fred" - outer peace, and "Frid" - inner peace, Art has the potential both to be an inspirational, meditational, therapeutical or whatever appropriate ending with -al source, in all its forms. And media the carrier. And Spirits the Target. Creating Inner Peace as a mode to reach Outer Peace. But - the separation is fictional - we are all one, and one are all. One World, One Unity, One Love. And Art in all its forms reminds us of that!

Make All Art Virtually Embeddable! Embed Everything!

With that said.

Meditate on this...

Dear Anna,

Being an artist there's only one answer possible for me: "Whatever you paint our create, create your art with love"
The love and peace will be notice by the beholder...

I feel being an artist with responsibility, means I want to go into the world, communicate with people of all ages, religions and nations, and integrate them into my art work.... so we all belong together, my neighbour wants to feel it, not only hear empty phrases from politicians.... and from me ;-) I have to be serious and convincing...
I think it matters whether you take them one by one or both together.

I would like to see a stronger connection by the two, I believe art already works fine with questions like Peace, but for media to play along with expressions of art I guess us journalists should think of journalism as something more artistic than it is thought of today.
Maybe 'journalism' has become, um, a little TOO, uh, 'artistic' (not in a good way!) We really need journaliusts who are not "embedded" in the government if you know what I mean. But maybe with our "new government" we can get rid of some ...'journalists'... (i.e., propagandists who freely taKe 'liberties' with the truth)) and get some real journalists. The control of Journalism here has been very pervasive and insidious over the last decade.

...these days, in this oxyMORONIC world, to get peace we might have to fight....
Interesting with the replies after my comment!
I do understand. And I DO want a discussion.
What I meant, was probably (now a month ago) that even a journalist should "be able" to take more responsibility for what it being written etc - should want to know more about the machinery of media. But it is really true that it is a matter of group work, and one can not be totally right, but the group (the writer, photographer - if we're talking about printed media - people doing Lay-out and printing etc.) that together holds a responsibility for what is being told. It goes both ways!

If there is no "artistic freedom" in being a writer at a news paper or taking photographs, it is not for real.

With art, I feel, sometimes freedom is taken for granted as well. I am not a great artist, I never went to art school, but I feel that sometimes art works can be used for healing, which doesn't mean that it is a "ready product", but that it has an aim.

And with journalistic work, I disagree with it being a total conspiracy between media people so to say. It is o.k. to have a soul while you try and portray what is going on. This is my opinion, and I am not a famous reporter either.
I think that art won't ever have anything in common with media. Art it is not a result, I'm not saying ... at all. It is the passion while creating. Media means money, any cost, any price. Sometimes it might look fair, but it's not! The two things have different targets, as substance, nothing in common!
