Delete Comment I believe that every time we extend a hand in friendship or accept one, we are adding our energy to the outpouring of UNIVERSAL LOVE and ENLIGHTENMENT that we need to tap into, in order to create PEACE on Earth for all mankind. I have created two groups on this site and will create more. One is destined to be a source of ideas for furthering PEACE in the World, and the other promotes Friendship.... We are holding our first Peace One Day event in Carlisle in the North of England (my nearest town)...Each year more and more countries and cities and towns and villages and communities are holding events that is raising the awareness that most people on this planet desire peace...even if our paths to achieve it may be divergent...We are winning the peace...and war is looking ever more hopeless as it never was a good way to settle conflicts.

Peace One Day Offers Free Education Resource for Teachers Peace One Day is working to strengthen the link between global citizenship, human rights, sustainability and peace through education. Our goal is to provide free resource materials to every school on earth, inspiring a generation to become the driving force behind the vision of a united and sustainable world.
We have had an amazing response to the Education Resources so far with over 1400 people worldwide registered and using the free multimedia packs that contain 19 lesson plans and 26 classrooms with over 20 video clips, amazingly this have been achieved in just the last 12 weeks.
In the next few weeks as teachers prepare to start the new school year, here at POD we will betrying to drive the awareness of the free education resources so teachers have the tool to not only to explore issues of peace, nonviolence and the protection of the environment with their students but also to begin celebration projects with themes of intercultural relations in the lead up to Peace Day, 21 September.

En las próximas semanas como maestros se preparan para iniciar el nuevo año escolar, aquí en POD nos betrying para impulsar el conocimiento de los recursos de la educación gratuita para que los maestros tienen la herramienta no sólo para explorar cuestiones de la paz, la no violencia y la protección de la el medio ambiente con sus estudiantes, sino también para comenzar proyectos de celebración con los temas de las relaciones interculturales en el plomo de hasta el Día de la Paz, 21 de septiembre.

Peace Day initiative, Afghanistan In 1999, filmmaker Jeremy Gilley decided to create a documentary following his campaign to establish an annual day of ceasefire and non-violence. Jeremy founded Peace One Day, a non-profit organisation, and in 2001 Peace One Day’s efforts were rewarded when the United Nations unanimously adopted 21 September as Peace Day.

In the ten years since Peace Day was established, lives have been saved. Last year alone, 1.6 million children in Afghanistan were vaccinated against polio on and around Peace Day, with a 70 per cent reduction in violent incidents on the day itself (source: United Nations). Disillusioned and deeply disturbed by the daily images of violence and destruction, recurring questions began to surface: "Is humankind fundamentally evil?” and "Is the destruction of the human race inevitable?" Having read that the media had a responsibility to instigate positive change, he decided to use film to make his own contribution. In 1998 at the Womad music festival, Jeremy had an idea: what if there was one day when the world stopped fighting? A worldwide ceasefire – a non-violence day? A Peace Day? But would it work? There was only one way to find out, and that required action. In 1999 Jeremy began a quest to document the creation of such a day. If he failed, it would make an interesting film showing a world unwilling to change, but if he succeeded… well, that was almost inconceivable.
