Within each of us we select words daily to express how we feel about everything. These expressions cover a very wide palette. They range from verbalizing our simple and complex emotions. To sharing our evocative passions through the wide musical range. Of songs and ideas we all feel such a compelling need to share. But their is another more toxic lethal and dangerous choice of words we employ. Hateful mean spirited words. Common words described as Profanity use of ethnic slurs.
Condescending words that trigger and wound many emotionally. Then become defined actions expressed in violence abuse bitterness and anger..and yes even War..

How do we as a Global Human Family of people. Discuss issues and say we are about Peace Love and a thousand other superlatives. Yet we will when angered or pissed off. Curse and call someone else. Every vile name we can think off in a New York Second. Yet we have the very Power within each of us to disconnect ourselves from this onerous process. But in many cases we will of course choose not to. Until I tell you about MFA&*...When will we choose to grow up and grow beyond using words we all know to be offensive. Yet we will still choose to not cleanup the words. We freely express daily that we each know in our hearts are offensive..

Yet we still allow them to be presented in front of and to our children. In movies videos..music..etc.. The derogatory and offensive ones. We allow to be expressed when demeaning our Women Daughters Mothers Sisters etc. Is their not an obligation anymore or even a need..To return to some form of Civility with our potty mouths. Today many Men and Women seem to be getting even more comfortable with being cursed out daily disrespected. It is becoming normal. Respect for Ourselves Women Children is declining rapidly. Many of both sexes see this as a problem..But do we as a Global Family no longer feel any responsibility or willingness. To change the tone within ourselves.

I have personally chosen to abandon the use of all Profanity. Even though it gets real tough some
times to find an alternate way to hold my tongue. I fail occasionally. But I am still a work in progress.
I have also chosen to purge my own vocabulary of certain other words and terms. Others know to be offensive as well. It is just a small thing. I just a thought I would share this observation. I would truly love to hear how others may also feel about this..

Daton,
Thank you for this well thought out and well expressed thought. You are so right that we fall into the trap of violent words while expounding the virtues of non-violence. Like you I am work in progress as old ways are hard to shift. I have recently had something to say to the group about this matter as I decided early on that I would not tolerate anything that others might find offensive...although we do have to talk a bit about war sometimes as this is what we oppose...so I found myself nodding at your points and saying 'yes me too' several times. Thank you.
Hi Daton,
You are certainly right.I like your article.
I want to share a poem of me with you about the subject

May Good Words Be Rains

If sounds don't vanish in space
And all the words accumulate somewhere else
Lets say good things to each other
Of friendship, humanity, peace and love.

Then the good words can come together
And turn back like love raining
And drop on wars
And put out hatred in hearts.

The more rains of love fall
The less all the guns will work.

We must throw away bad words
And always produce good ones
So love clouds gather together in the sky
And rain, drop by drop on the whole world.

Drops acumulate...
Wars come to an end!

Words

If words alone were a comfort,
they would have come rounded,
soft, caressing tight packed
ready to hug, fluffy and downy.

Instead they come along a line,
on a page or carved on stones,
or spat out from angry mouths
the drunken curse or scolding.

If words alone were a comfort
I could rest my poor weary head
upon a safe soft dictionary
and let the world spin ever on.

But words in newsprint shock,
the unsuspecting text or letter
gives us bad news from afar
bereavement or money owing.

Words alone can’t be a comfort,
nor have any healing touch
unless touched by a feeling heart
and given as an act of love.

Hey Daton, it is so ironic for me to see this discussion. I just read the poem that I wrote on the same topic. I was debating on whether or not to delete it because not many have read it and commented on it. I agree with what you say in your discussion, and I feel that words can last a lifetime if not carefully selected. I am posting my poem below, because I guess I'm not supposed to delete it after all. Everything happens for a reason. Thanks for sharing! Peace & Blessings

GROWING IS KNOWING! By Antoinette Denise Johnson

One would rather
be strong; say "I'm grown!"
than admit when he is wrong!

In truth, being grown for some
is just an age................
Not maturity.
On the other hand, growing
brings peace and continuity.

Knowing actions create
repercussions.
Knowing there is no growing,
in one-sided discussions.

Never letting another get a word
in edge wise!
Simply throwing words as weapons,
piercing loved ones hearts with sharp knives!

One should think about others' feelings
prior to words being spoken.
Then maybe fewer spirits will be forever broken.

Words are eternal, unlike the healing of bruises.
One with maturity, thinks carefully before he chooses.

Choosing to throw words as weapons,
cutting to the bone?
Or words of love, with care being shown?

We all make mistakes.
That will forever be.

But truly being grown,
requires apologies!

The beauty of your words touches my soul and with this comes PEACE!

Living life is a simple act of love...

Blessings Sir Daton,

Shells

What is in a word?
words may cut like a knife,to wound another's heart,
words can bring together, friends who are far apart,
the written word may be as soft as a bird,
sending love in everything heard...
A word may move a mountain,
or even become a fountain,
New Understanding, at the mere stroke of a pen,
or sign declarations,or make another friend...
Sending Love unto God above,if they come from the Heart,
some words bring us together, and others just tear us apart,
some words show us a better way, written in stone, made to stay,
may Peace cross our lips, and Love show us a better way...

Very well said and done..Your words validate what is beautiful about the unseen Power in Our Words when we get it right..
Many Blessings to you

Thanx Dalton,my passion is my poetry and my words come from my heart and dreams...some are written as Native American Folk Lore, others just flow with my pen across the desserts of a page, like a forgotten sparrow in a dust storm,or the lonely howl of a wolf on a frosty autumn night, giving his songs to the moon,
while the owl watches in silence, still hunting mice...
sometimes I get lost in a fantasy and just can't seem to stop...lol...sorry...lol...just having fun d:?)
