hello Friends,
I have just joined this network and I am excited about it. I don't know exactly how to best access the conversation that I want but this slightly active group seems to meet my message. I am after changing behaviors in my country the most militaristic country in the world. I have written a book on this topic examining who we are as a people over a 1600 year span, following our language. Most of us think of English as from England but actually we are not from England in the great span of time. the English are from Germany and we invaded Britain when rome pulled out in 410AD. The natives of Britain are the Cymraeg as they call themselves. We called them "welias" which was or word for slave or foriegner which is now welsh. Yes we were slaving vikings believing that some of our tribe were direct descendants of Woden (Odin) they were our royalty (and still are). We all had slaves until around 1100AD when the church who also had slaves decided that to many white people were being sold into Muslim countries where they had no chance of salvation so slavery in a formal sense was slowly stopped. Now then it took us around 200 years to grab most of that island. 1000 years later we came to this continent and repeated the behavior. We discounted the inhabitants and killed or enslaved them until we had taken it from coast to coast. In 1890 the frontier was announced closed and we started out with our foreign wars first taking part of Cuba and then the Philipines. You see our trail of conquest started long before Iraq. Did you know why we have Wodensday and Thorsday in each weekly cycle? Woden being the head male viking god who supposedly created the earth and all on it. One of his sons Thor with the hammer fighting giants in the sky and his other son Twia the one handed god of war (Tuesday). This are proof of who we are. We must realize it and move beyond the selfish culture and competitive behaviors as we struggle to control resources. what so you think?
