PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON!

We the people in the Community of iPeace, need to start learning ways to make an impact on our own communities, to help others who are less fortunate. It's time for us, as individuals, to give back, to make a change, to develop a "social conscience."

PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON, PEOPLE!

It's common practice for demonstrators and protesters to garner support for worthy causes by carrying signs urging drivers to "put your lights on" or "honk your horns" while passing by the picket lines, as a show of solidarity. Find more videos like this on iPeace ***** Now is the time to shine a spotlight on social practices that abuse a significant number of the world's people, the time to make a personal commitment to doing something about community and world issues. War, Hunger, Poverty, Disease, and Ecological Disasters, will affect us all, if left to run amok.I want this group to be a learning experience for it's members. If you, or a group you have worked with have come up with a solution to a social issue in your community, tell us about it! Describe what you did and let us know how it's working out. It could be anything from a soup kitchen for the homeless to a Skateboard Park for "bored" teenagers. Name your Cause!

This is one of mine.

Imagine being a person who has no job and no place to live. Think about being a person who often has to endure incredible changes in temperature while being seen as a scar on the face of the community. A person trying to survive through sub-zero weather conditions while watching others drive by in their comfortable (and warm) BMW Z3’s or their Audi A4’s; making a sign asking for help out of old weathered cardboard; or suffering the degradation of being in "the public eye" and having every inch of body and soul being judged by every passerby. To be brought so low in society is to have no sense of security. That is what every homeless person faces, on a daily basis.

I know that a few people help the homeless, but it's not enough.

"Oh sure," you might say, "The homeless are people who choose to be there. They didn’t strive for a better life because they're lazy."

That might be a true in some cases but it's important to realize that most of the time that's not the whole story (or even a part of it).

We need to start focusing on ways that we can impact our own communities. We need to help others who are less fortunate. It is time for us each, as individuals, to give something back. It's time to start a change in the way things are being done (or not done). We need progress and NOW is the time to find people a home.

Winter's closing in.

"Each one of us on Earth has it... the ability to lead and inspire. Sometimes our work feels small and insignificant... but remember... a small ripple can gain momentum and build a current that's insurmountable. Begin with one small step. Don't let others stand in your way. Walk your own path. Some may laugh. So what? Others will follow."

Dream winged
In the wings of poetry!
its unearthly melody. breaks silence of the night
Of this night which is a part of me.
Like a swallow flying in the distant sky
My soul yearns to find Peace

The inspirational video is designed to get us all up and at the job of promoting peace by any means we can. Every time we right a wrong, correct an injustice or simply lend a hand to our fellow man, we make the world a better place. Most of us can only make an impact on our local area of interest, but just as a pebble tossed in the water makes a ripple, so does every action we perform, whether for good or for bad. Let's create a wave for PEACE! :D

Thank you Ravishankara! It's good to have you here. Yes, I thought Madonna's video was very well done. The fact that it raised controversy around the world over the choice of "bad guys" portrayed, speaks for itself. :)
