PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON!

We the people in the Community of iPeace, need to start learning ways to make an impact on our own communities, to help others who are less fortunate. It's time for us, as individuals, to give back, to make a change, to develop a "social conscience."

PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON, PEOPLE!

It's common practice for demonstrators and protesters to garner support for worthy causes by carrying signs urging drivers to "put your lights on" or "honk your horns" while passing by the picket lines, as a show of solidarity. Find more videos like this on iPeace ***** Now is the time to shine a spotlight on social practices that abuse a significant number of the world's people, the time to make a personal commitment to doing something about community and world issues. War, Hunger, Poverty, Disease, and Ecological Disasters, will affect us all, if left to run amok.I want this group to be a learning experience for it's members. If you, or a group you have worked with have come up with a solution to a social issue in your community, tell us about it! Describe what you did and let us know how it's working out. It could be anything from a soup kitchen for the homeless to a Skateboard Park for "bored" teenagers. Name your Cause!

This is one of mine.

Imagine being a person who has no job and no place to live. Think about being a person who often has to endure incredible changes in temperature while being seen as a scar on the face of the community. A person trying to survive through sub-zero weather conditions while watching others drive by in their comfortable (and warm) BMW Z3’s or their Audi A4’s; making a sign asking for help out of old weathered cardboard; or suffering the degradation of being in "the public eye" and having every inch of body and soul being judged by every passerby. To be brought so low in society is to have no sense of security. That is what every homeless person faces, on a daily basis.

I know that a few people help the homeless, but it's not enough.

"Oh sure," you might say, "The homeless are people who choose to be there. They didn’t strive for a better life because they're lazy."

That might be a true in some cases but it's important to realize that most of the time that's not the whole story (or even a part of it).

We need to start focusing on ways that we can impact our own communities. We need to help others who are less fortunate. It is time for us each, as individuals, to give something back. It's time to start a change in the way things are being done (or not done). We need progress and NOW is the time to find people a home.

Winter's closing in.

"Each one of us on Earth has it... the ability to lead and inspire. Sometimes our work feels small and insignificant... but remember... a small ripple can gain momentum and build a current that's insurmountable. Begin with one small step. Don't let others stand in your way. Walk your own path. Some may laugh. So what? Others will follow."

Thank you Charlie! The Spirit of your video is exactly what I want to see here! Yes, we all share the same home and it's time the hand of friendship was extended BY all nations TO all nations. Peace on Earth is something I hope to see become OUR REALITY and not just a DREAM. You know what the real estate people always say... LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! C'mon! Let's sell PEACE .... on EARTH.... what finer LOCATION could there be? :D

Hello Bente and ALL my members! I am very glad to see how well PYLO is progressing! I hope to hear from more of you as you become familiar with the pattern of things. For sure you can talk about anything that's on your mind. Great projects are often generated by the smallest "germ" of an idea! *smile* Remember the song, "Go Tell it on the Mountain?" When I was younger, I loved to stand on a high ridge and "HOLLER AT THE WORLD!" Now, That's what I'm doing HERE and I'd love to hear a few more "ECHOES!!" --Christie (MTMNTC)

Hello Chris.... yes, I think that's a fairly common problem in most institutions where clients are confined for long periods of time. They and staff members become "sensitized" to each other. I once had a nurse friend admit to me that she had flung a full bed-pan at a patient who had a personal habit that she found disgusting. He would dig away at his nostril with a long fingernail, bring out whatever he had found, roll it between his fingers till it formed a pellet, than flick it at the wall. This particular day she walked through his "line of fire" at the critical second and was struck in the face by the sticky thing. Luckily she wasn't a very good aimer and she missed the "gentleman" but she had such a mess to clean up, she almost resigned on the spot. So far as I know, she never saw him do it again, tho. Maybe he was afraid she wouldn't miss the next time! LMAO! BTW, most of the nurses I know give fantastic back rubs! :D --Christie

You have listed some important topics for discussion Robert and the poem which follows definitely makes an impact. These words:

"When they are through talking and have solved nothing, more people will die."

especially caught my eye. Since the world's leaders, politicians and governments cannot seem to solve the problems, it is up to the world's thinkers, educators, engineers, technicians, laborers and others, to help third world nations and threatened areas of the so-called "free world" to help themselves.

THAT MEANS US and the members of every group, organization and brotherhood we take part in to further the Cause of Peace. Peace is not possible while Fear, Hunger, Thirst, Disease, and Poverty affects such a large fraction of the Human Population
.
Please take a look at my Discussion "HUNGRY WORLD" which I will post later tonight. It will definitely provide FOOD for thought, if nothing else! :D --Christie
