The Green Children Foundation was set up by Tom Bevan and Milla Sunde, who met at a music a school in Liverpool and went on to form the duo The Green Children.
Inspired by the work of Professor Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank (joint winners of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize) which he set up (originally, with US$27 out of his own pocket to fund 42 [!!!] women in the village of Jobra near Chittagong University) to provide micro-credits for poor people to start up their own businesses and become self-sufficient without falling prey to exorbitant interest rates, Tom and Milla have become very active in this work, travelling to several countries around the World and helping to start hospitals and educational programs with the profits from their album sales.
