John Lennon put it beautifully, when he wrote "Imagine" Imagine no religion, no heaven, no hell..!! .I have no gods to die for and I have no religion to kill for, I'm happy to be a peace loving person, without all sorts of gods and religions as excuses for being a violent little arsehole! Throughout history, religion is the basic cause for war, hatred, persecution, cruelty....all in the name of a lord!! Yeah...right!!!

I would also like to send loving blessings and prayers to all the people involved - Indians, Australians, Pakistanis, Israelis - whatever their nationality. The pain and suffering was horrific in this event for everybody that was there as it was for those who watched from afar, like myself.

I felt pain for the perpetrators too. They were young men whose brutal actions were startling and unforgivable and yet, as human beings, they too have souls and carry sparks of the divine.

That's what I learned from Quakers and Buddhists, and then I found it was in my own Jewish tradition. It's just those sparks are hidden beneath the ignorance and hatred that grows out of fear. It seems they may have been linked to a Kashmiri independence group.

When I've done non-violence training in maximum security prisons as part of AVP, a Quaker based group, I found that inmates rationalised their criminal behaviours in the most surprising ways.

People are people!

In peace, Ben/Arjuna

I may not be as nice as you are Althia!

Most of those deliberately slaughtered and butchered were very ordinary Indians. Two Australians were slaughtered and butchered.

Shame on the amoral and evil would-be shahid's and their amoral and evil cohort. If there really is a hell, then that is the destiny of such no-longer humans.
