I so do agree that Greed is indeed the biggest obstacle to peace worldwide both today and in the past.
When a person lives by the mantra of Greed, it creates Fear and Anger with all it's consequent behaviours and emotions in those around them and society at large. When people live by Fear and Anger, they can only express limited Love. Consequently, we seem to live in a Love-less world.
I often wonder if a person who lives by Greed can ever truly appreciate all that they have acquired.
Today everyone says "Pray for Peace" hoping that this will somehow solve so many problems. I say instead pray that 'We all have Enough', since in so doing, one acknowledges that there is indeed enough for us all to have 'a piece of the pie' i.e. It is not necessary or desirable for me to have it all, since others must have their share too.
