What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Other

So what is it?: Greed - The recent Wall Street, Mortgage and housing market meltdown is a prime example of rich gluttons want to stockpile more cash at the expense of others and not trying to put the money toward positive uses.for all humankind.

What must we overcome to achieve peace?: Hatred

More: While all the issues you list are important I picked hate because wars always boil down to one's hatred for therir fellow human.
This world needs more love and less hate and the rest of the issues will work themselves out.

Began my career over 30 years ago as a young teenager in Augusta, GA after moving south during the middle of high school.
I was co-coordinator of the 1986 original James Brown Appreciation Day in Augusta, GA, where the Godfather of Soul was always trashed by the local media.
Mr. Terence Dicks was co-coordinator and most recently was chair of the Augusta Human Relations Commission and is a member of the Georgia Clients Council.
Mr. Brown taught us to "fight the good fight" by battling all forms of racism and evil while not uttering a bad word about those who try to block justice, respect, fairness and kindness to all.
As a child, I lived in the Harbert, Michigan home built by late poet Carl Sandburg - where some of his greatest works were penned like Chicago poem & Lincoln papers.
The huge home had a roof sundeck & a cool walk-in basement safe.
I ‘m the volunteer media advisor for several large interfaith environmental projects involving Native Americans across Upper Peninsula of MI including the Turtle Island Project, the Interfaith Earth Healing Initiative, Earth Keeper Initiative and the Manoomin (Wild Rice) Project.
The Zaagkii Wings and Seeds Project restores bee and butterfly habitat to help pollinators following the disappearance of billions of bees. Keweenaw Bay Indian Community youth and Marquette teens are building butterfly houses and planting 26,000 native plants that help pollinators survive.
The Earth Healing Initiative participated in the EPA Great Lakes 2008 Earth Day Challenge that occurred in April 2008.
The EHI helped organize interfaith participation across eight states for the 100 plus recycling projects - involving millions of pounds of electronic waste that was recycled and millions of pills/pharmaceuticals that were properly disposed. Under an EPA grant, EHI provided free media related services - including doing videos and press releases.
The Earth Keeper group has many environmental projects including an annual Earth Day Clean Sweep at 24 free drop off sites across a 400 mile area of northern Michigan that has collected over 370 tons of household hazardous waste since 2005.
The 2007 Earth Keeper Pharmaceutical Clean Sweep collected over a ton of drugs plus $500,000 in narcotics in only three hours. Some 2,000 residents participated.
In 2006, 10,000 people dropped off over 320 tons of old/broken computers, cell phones and other electronic waste, all was recycled. In 2005, residents turned in 45 tons of household poisons and vehicle batteries.
In 2007, over a ton of pharmaceuticals & $500,000 in narcotics was turned in by more than 2,000 people at 19 sites.
The Manoomin (Wild Rice) Project teaches at-risk teens to respect nature and themselves by having American Indian guides escort them to very remote lakes and streams to plant and care for wild rice.
The Turtle Island Project (TIP) was co-founded in July 2007 by Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard in Munising, Michigan and Rev. Dr. George Cairns of Chesterton, Indiana, United Church of Christ minister and Chicago Theological Seminary research professor.
Protecting the environment and respecting the culture/heritage of Indigenous peoples like Celts & American Indians.
TIP provides a platform for American Indians to be heard - unedited by whites.
Rev. Hubbard says whites don't have the knowledge or right to speak on behalf of Native Americans.
I specialize in civil rights, outdoor, environmental, cops and courts reporting thanks to my late mentor Jay Mann (Jan Tillman Hutchens), an investigative reporter in Augusta, who lived by the books "Illusions" and "Jonathon Livingston Seagull."
I love to fish, hunt, camp and skydive. A member of the Delta Chi fraternity, I was very active in student projects from Junior Achievement, to all forms of band (played cornet) to cross country, track, and football.

I blame Hamas for the current war.

Would anyone - even the most peace-loving person - agree to stand by as rockets land nearby every day, perhaps killing your child or your neighbor's child.

Hamas militants have launched 3,000 rockets into Israel over the past year.

Members of the Hamas government who want peace should be brave enough to stop those who are launching rockets.
