When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a pacifist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
I believe that there are only two real emotions: love and fear. However, I believe that fear is nothing more than the absence of love (or the illusion that love is absent). I also believe that everything is either an expression of love or a call for love--no exceptions. Therefore, I believe that fear is what creates hatred, prejudice, greed and economic disparity and is also what drives human beings to seek solace/control/answers in religion.
Can we change the world?
More about me
I am a "new thought/inspirational" musician, composer, singer, performer, recording artist, musical emissary and "instrument of peace," who has dedicated my life to helping create peace, love and unity through the power of music.

"I Want To Say Thank You!" (November 25, 2009)

Greetings, family!

Today is Wednesday, November 25--one day before Thanksgiving! I am in Boulder, CO, preparing for my first Thanksgiving in 20 years without any of my "family" family! As I anticipate spending time with my "spiritual" family tomorrow--first at the Center for Spiritual Living Denver, where I will be performing and leading music, and then at "Harmony House," where I will be hosting some dear friends--I find myself swept up in a wave of gratitude; so much so that I had… Continue

Greetings, family!

Today is Sunday, April 5th, and we have now completed the 12th annual Season For Nonviolence. Congratulations, and thank you for joining me on this journey! It has been my distinct pleasure to offer these daily blogs, and I have sent each one out with the prayer that it be read by the perfect person at the perfect time for the perfect outcome to present itself. If even one of you has been touched by these words, my goal was accomplished, and for that I am truly… Continue

Days 63-64 of the Season For Nonviolence: "Release" & "Celebration"

Posted on April 4, 2009 at 1:35am 0 Comments

Greetings, family!

Today is Friday, April 3, and I am posting for the final two days of the Season For Nonviolence! For Thursday, April 2, DAY 63, the thought for today is RELEASE.

A Sufi proverb says “when the heart weeps for what it has lost, the spirit laughs for what is found.” Release the weight of your past, the judgments of yourself and others, and be the change you wish to see. Make room for what is here in this present moment, release the hurts and resentments and… Continue

Day 62 of the Season For Nonviolence: "Commitment"

Greetings, family!

Today is Wednesday, April 1, DAY 62 of the Season For Nonviolence. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: I've had so much fun blogging for these first 62 days that I've decided to keep posting daily blogs for the rest of the year! (April Fools!!!!) At any rate, the thought for today is COMMITMENT.

Until one is committed there is hesitancy, a chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the… Continue

Beyond the horizon
where naked skin of Earth
naked skin of Sky
children of imagination are conceived
in intercourse of mystery.

Time curves…. Dragons
form circles
in bubbles of eternity.
The ageless shepherd of our shadows
enters the pasture
that was and was not green
before the birth of poetry. Dreamers

drunken in the breath
of dark divinity dream
in secret dramas of their souls. At
times wild cries out for wilderness.
Or meditations of a mountain’s crest
become light’s prayer
in hearts of darkness.

Creation consents…. Nomads
bearing gypsy tents
thirst for twilight. Ancient
fires in books of alchemy. Riddles
of each night. The longest
word in life… is “Yes.”

To one and all: Peace within & peace to share…

I have a dream:

at the center of the dream
is circling ocean
in the center of the ocean
is turtle island
at the center of the island
is vision mountain
in the center of the mountain
is healing crystal
at the center of the crystal
is sacred light
in the center of the light
i sit dreaming

I have a dream:

i dream i am a tree
my roots spread out
beside a place of water
in sunlight
my branches turn to fire
my leaves are prayers of smoke
my heart beats like a drum
inside a stone of power

I have a dream:

my dream is at the center
of great silence
here at the center
i sit dreaming

Interpreted from a poem by St. Francis of Assisi

Highest, most powerful
and goodly Lord
to you only go
praise and honor, benedictions
of all kinds
and every glory
to you only, Most High
do these belong
no man being worthy
to signify your name

praise my Lord
through all creation—
especially through the lord
my Brother Sun
shining with the gift of day
dispensing to us
bounteous light, beautiful
and resplendent with brightness

to you my Lord
he is most like
in likeness

praise my Lord
through our Sister
the Moon and moving Stars
set heaven high
by your high hand
beautifully arrayed, precious
and most bright

praise my Lord
through my Brother
the Wind
and every breeze
and all degrees
of alternating weather

praise my Lord
through my Sister
Flowing Water
useful she is—
a humble, chaste
and priceless treasure

praise my Lord
through my Brother
Master Fire
who sparkles for us
in the dead of night
his dancing lithe
and bright, joyous
and abounding with power

praise my Lord
through our Sister
Mother Earth
who upholds and nurtures us
bringing forth
reviving fruits, flowers
of many hues
and helpful herbs

praise my Lord
through those who show
through love of you
enduring the painful
perils of time
and harsh adversity

blessed are they
who persevere
in peacefulness
for by you, Most High
are they adorned

praise and bless
my Lord most truly
and render thanks
and service to him
and with great humility

maiden of midnight
mothering side
of the God of life
descend now
to this troubled heart
this garden soul
lift me
as if on eagles’ wings
to wear the fiery
robes of lightning
let my thunder roll

let me sit
in luminal darkness
meditating prayers
in the shapes of light
let me dream
dream beneath the breathing rainbow
of your love.

There is a place
that place is nowhere
and a time
pierced by eternity
known to pilgrims
as the rest of God.
the man of roads and
child of his returning
bow together
in everlasting peace.

thank you Janis! i love the spirit of joy and freedom conveyed through your photos... thanks so much for posting them; thank you for the friendhsip acceptance...

That is the great mountain.
A breath of beauty
in a tower
of living stone.
The top of the mountain
like the head of Adam Kadmon
is crowned
with a glacier of
blue-white ice, is
with velvet of night and
star scatterings
from a hand of majesty
is gold-fire, red gold
in the cosmic blessing
of each morning sun.

In Spanish
this is called
Beso del Sol
kiss of the sun.
And in Ireland is
a dancing girl who
calls love a
cosmic hug.

The philosophers
like to speak of
a leap of faith.
I am happy to say
the way that
others breathe
the holy word OM.

In Israel there is
a singing woman
who walks
in the garden of Lao Tzu
who weaves in her song
a union of souls.
This is what I would call
healing, and others;
who are beautiful as
angels of the Earth;
refer to as peace.
