When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I'm just a peaceful person
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Human Rights
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Fear
More
Agreeing to compromise takes a lot of courage. I think today, too many of us are so used to being victims, we are afraid of being anything else. We are comfortable with fear because it is what we know. We are afraid of taking true risks, we are suspicious. We are afraid of agreeing to peace because we are so used to conflict, we don't know what we are without it.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
Conflicts make me write. Last time I did this, was during the Second Lebanon War - I ran a blog from Tel Aviv, together with a friend I made online, who ran it from Beirut. Our little effort gave us some hope of better times to come, of the possibility of dialog, and opened our eyes to the realities of the other side. You can see it here: http://www.jointvoices.blogspot.com/

I don't believe in one-sidedness. I also don't believe in criticism from afar of the situation in the middle east - it is too complicated to be understood by someone who hasn't lived here.
Promise to respect others and refrain from spamming?
Yes

An Unplanned Break

Posted on January 15, 2009 at 6:22pm 0 Comments

Well, unfortunately, I find myself needing to take a break. It has nothing to do with iPeace whatsoever, has more to do with a mental fuse I have blown this week, probably a result of a few years worth of stresses.

I just don't have any energy left to write too much, and as you may have noticed, I can't write just 2 sentences, I gotta fill a page or none at all... in any case, I can't do much right now beside work on re-wiring my head.

Regardless of what happens, I hope… Continue

Globes

Ok so I'm back :)

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the makers of the film "Waltz with Bashir" on their Golden Globe win last night. This is an amazing film, and the legitimacy it has gotten locally and worldwide is, in my view, a hopeful testament to the growing transition of Israel from a militarist society to a civilian society and the mounting wish to make wars a thing of our past.

I urge anyone who can to go see… Continue

Response to David and the members of iPeace

Posted on January 11, 2009 at 9:30pm 24 Comments

Last night, after a long day away from the computer, I opened my mailbox to find it bursting with interesting things - first, David's public referal, with compliments, to one of my blog posts. Second, lots of apparent comments. When I opened the post to see the comments, I discovered it had disappeared. Today I learnt it had been removed, the first blog post ever to be removed from iPeace, what an honour. I started writing a response to David privately and then ran out of room; and since the… Continue

Love is always present, in the world, in nature, in us. What changes is our realisation of it.
Sending you a hearty smile from nature, dear Lilu.

Dear my beloved friends,

I wrote something, and need you to put the title yourself. I will try to spread on the web (regardless of the grammatical errors, haha!), because I think that’s the best I can do for you, Palestinians, Israelis and the World.

Please take a few minutes to read it, and join me.. I hope you WON’T enjoy it, but feel it with me.

Thank you so very, very much!

Be Well,

Saggitario

Hi Lilu. I follow the news about this conflict and I feel sorrow, my heart aches. I cannot understand why politicians do not sit down and talk to solve things and stop allowing crimes . I want to believe, peace is possible in the world.
My best wishes. Pilar G

I didn't get to comment on your post. Thats why I wrote to David because I wanted to know what the big deal was! So I wrote that in response to the censorship. I got your back girl! Freedom of speach is the most important thing in the world. And everyone has a right to defend themselves and there people against attack of any kind. I believe that, that is what is right. Defending yourself or your country from attack means to stop it from happening. Thats going to be different depending on the situation for each conflict. I am hear on this site for action not just words. I have a project that I have been working on for 20 years and I belive deep down in my bones that we have part of the solution to a problem that has been festering for a long time. This Flag that I work with that my brother created when I was a senior in high school 20 min outside of New York is something that I have seen thousands of people changed when they have it in there daily lives. Classrooms where Gang Violence was in issue has subsided. Curiosity about ones own flag occurs 1st and then everyone steps back and realizes that they are a part of ONE World of people and what an incredible family we are! We use our web site to further teach and also Flashcards and soon games. Education about eachother, leads to helping eachother and thats ultimately what we want to do like Lilus family is doing. There is nothing better than helping a family start their own business. The pride and self worth that happens is priceless. This is the road to peace. Action, not just words. We are all trying to do things in our own way and this is a great place to come and share that and not just share cheeky words, phrases and pictures! Thanks Lilu for being a PeacWarrior because silence is not the answer, and avoiding things as we all know from our own family experiences always makes it worse in the end!
The Wheel is turnin! and..
John
