Singing for peace...

Profile Information

When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a pacifist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other
So what is it?
individual rights; freedom from conformity programming
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Prejudice
More
People fear what they don't understand, so they build up an elaborate construct about the people they don't understand. Making someone (or an entire race or culture) "other", makes it much easier to condone violence against them. Fear is at the root of prejudice, but it is the feeling that "they are not like me" which allows people to forget that we are all one.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
Homeschooling mom to 3 spectacular sons (all big guys now); married to cosmic twin; musician for all my life; singer/songwriter; anti-nuclear activist/pacifist; safe, renewable energy promoter; animal lover; Suzuki music teacher for children and families; advocate for attachment parenting; authentic flower child; peacemonger. I am trying to stay focused on the idea that I must work for peace in every action of my daily life, by living and thinking peacefully.
Promise to respect others and refrain from spamming?
Yes

Voting for Peace

Today in the US we have a huge decision being made by a vast number of people. My hope and prayer (as well as my vote) is that we can, as a country, step out in faith to embrace a new vision of ourselves in the world. We have a chance to elect a transformational and intelligent being as a representative of all that is right with America. Peace, love and light.

We have overcome years of fear and doubt! America shines once more with joy and hope and we reach our hands out to the world in sincere unity. Rejoice with us as we set out on our bright new future, even tho' our problems are challenging, our resolve is strong and we say "Yes we can!"

Hi Marilyn, Thanks for the encouragement. I look forward to showing you how music fits in to our first features. Yeah, I look forward to the Star Trekish future too. As you say, in most visions of what is to come, there is always this lurking disaster...but I think that's more a reflection on the past than what will actually come to pass. As Henry Miller said, in the world to come, there will be problems, but they won't be the problems of history. I'm tired of those historical problems...it will be a pleasure to move on. And the Star Trek scene I think will be a very brief flash, as we move past that in to something much more magical. I don't think technology will look like what we think of as technology today. There will be no difference between technology, biology, light, mind, and so on.

Blessings and peace to all my new friends! I appreciate your friendship and take great comfort in the knowledge that we are not alone in our commitment to change the world by "Putting our soul power to the Karmic Wheel", as John Lennon said in his powerful song, "Mind Games". Let us continue to keeps our hearts and minds high and free! Light and love,
Marilyn
