My dear brother Rob Hunter, a lot of thanks for your kind words for me. I am grateful to you for declaring me as your brother. May God the Great give you all the happiness in this life and in the life hereafter if there is any. Just accept salaam from me, my wife and my children.

Hello Rob
Congratulations to your daughter on the scholarship offer. I am not familiar with Whittier College other than its reputation as a teaching college. As with most universities in Los Angeles, there is a concern about proximity to dangerous neighborhoods (Compton, South Central...). But many students manage to live safely (consider USC in the middle of Watts). Just make sure your daughter understands that within any city, turning a corner can make all the difference, and to quickly learn from locals exactly what the boundaries are. It is sometimes difficult for people coming to Southern California for the first time because everything looks sunny and pretty. I only share this sobering info because I am a mom and I would want to know.
That said, Uptown Whittier is a nice community, and the campus is charming. Hope your trip goes smoothly, and the sun shines for you!
Your friend,
Caroline

I have a friend who has a plan for bringing water to everyone using desalination/aquaducts. Its pretty far reaching, and currently the technology doesn't exist, but he is looking for connections to people who might be able to make this happen in the future. If we don't dream big we will never be able to imagine a way to a better future, so I am trying to help him along in his efforts. Since you mentioned pottable water, I thought you might have some ideas.
Peace
