What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Poverty, Violence, Other

So what is it?: sefishness, too little compassion with others

What must we overcome to achieve peace?: Fear

More: where there is true love there is no fear that results in hate, but understanding.

Can we change the world?: Definitely

More about me: I am not so sure what to tell... so much to say so suddenly!!
Iam a mother of 4, graduated in Psychology, worked with young delinquant girls in a reformatory school as well as with blind and Partially sighted kids for many years...
I see myself as some-one in search of true wisdom, reads a lot , are interested in the religions of the world., death and dying, having a full life and living it!! ..
I have this lifetime to fill in with worth the while doings and not just sit back and enjoy the ride!! ( though I do so as well.... I am fortunate to be able to live in happy, peacefull and comfartable style in a country full of racial hate and crime - South Africa)
I believe the teachings of the Bible that says God loves us all and wants every person to enjoy this beautifull world and each other, to care for each other, look after this earth, He made so amazingly beautifull, to see people and things through the eyes of a loving Jesus who forgives and breathes new life into broken souls.
It is not possible to be a perfect loving person through strict rules and religious practices... that boils down to being a slave to religion... to me it can only come through a total calm , peacefull ( not fanatical!!!! ) giving over of mind, body and soul to a transendental Being; the Higher God, the Maker, a Holy Spirit, a real Jesus who leads you to love and a feeling of being able to change the world around you through His grace and power.
I have experienced how Alcoholics, gangsters etc become new people with pride in themselves, how rich and poor, white and black can come together and be one of spirit and work talk and walk together because they have the same goal and it is to be part of the clean, river of good lifegiving water to all around... I have heard sad peolple start singing and being full of joy even while they were still having financial and other problems because they believed there is Someone out there with an army of " angels" who'll help them to get up and going again!!
Sometimes when I get disheartened and even synical... and starts to sink in a pit of darkness I think of all the times before me.. religious wars, Biblical times, old and new stories of sad, good and bad happenings...and says to myself "this too shall pass" and our God who was there since the very beginning will be there untill the end...He is also sad, crying over another generation of people without love and peace!!
