When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?: I feel the pain in the world

What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom

More: Thomas Merton wrote that the root of all war is fear. People have an inborn need for security and protection and the primal reaction to fear is violence. If we are observant we will see this reaction in ourselves. It is only with a deep conviction that there is a better way to bring peace into our lives and into the world that we become willing to transform the primal reaction, to train ourselves to become non-violent.

More about me: I am a 68 year old wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who desires to make an impact on our world by helping to create peace in all ways. I am almost a pacifist...at least in today's world where wars are fought with bombs and more and more innocent civilians are killed.
