When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?: I'm just a peaceful person

What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Our Planet, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other

So what is it?: Moving further away from the virtues of small, local economies

More: I think that the biggest obstacle for peace is not prejudice or ignorance but indifference. Most people today have heard of many of the world's most terrible problems but don't believe they can do anything about it. It is a shame that more people don't try their hardest to put an end to our world's suffering.

More about me: I was born in Oakland, California and spent most of my life there. I am currently a student at Berea College in Berea, KY and I am studying nursing, sustainability, and music. I am an atheist and a moderate democrat, though I think that it is silly to be so narrow minded that you can't even put up with someone else's opinions. I do not look down at people for being different from me.

I have traveled through France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, and throughout the US.

I am involved in Sustainable Berea (dedicated towards improving the resilience of Berea,KY), HEAL (Healing the Earth and Learning), OXFAM Berea, Bereans for Appalachia, Real Foods Challenge, Local Foods Initiative, and Students for a Free Tibet.

I participated in Displace Me, an event put on by Invisible Children which involved building a temporary community in San Francisco out of cardboard boxes to represent a displacement camp. We also fasted and ate only saltines and drank water for sustenance to represent what refugees are forced to eat on a daily basis

I enjoy backpacking, traveling, climbing, running (long distance), skydiving, paragliding, and most sports.

I am currently living in a sustainability demonstration house on the Berea College campus.

I love people and think that though it may not necessarily seem like it all the time, we have a massive capacity for change and are beautiful.
