War, conflict, suffering have always been with us. They always will be. The best hope we can have is to reduce and minimise their impact. Eliminating them is impossible. Mankind labours under the illusion that we act consciously most of the time, whereas we act unconsciously almost all of the time. All spiritual disciplines - at their uncorrupted core - emphasise personal responsibility, which is achievable only by being conscious. This is not a trivial problem, to understate the case.
