21 Sept Peace Day

Dear Colleague,

For a number of years now, the UN has set 21 Sept as Peace Day. This 21 Sept the UN has set disarmament as the theme of the day. Also during Sept. the US President will chair a session of the UN Security Council devoted to disarmament which should attract some attention to the subject. Thus, I am sending my recent… Continue

Its not very comfortable in there is it?” said the stony faced official, cigarette smoke forming a haze around his gleaming oval head.

“Its OK. We’re fine” I replied wearily, delirious after being awake for a straight period of 30 hours.

“You could be in there for days you know. For weeks. Indefinitely. “So, tell me, you are taking a plane tomorrow morning to the US?”

LET’S ‘PEACE” IT TOGETHER!

September 21 is approaching. For those of you who didn’t know, that is the United Nations International Day of Peace. Every year on this day, the UN asks all nations at war to consider taking a one-minute ceasefire at noon, as well as asking citizens of the world to acknowledge peace.

I can imagine that many of you are concerned with the state of the world and think about issues of peace and social justice. I have spent many years living and working with people around the world and… Continue

MY VOICE for WORLD PEACE

I will always remember my Fathers words to me as he lay dying from cancer "Go now son and play music all over this world. Tell people who you are, where you have come from and where your going...If I could, I would come with you but for me,it is only a dream now...for you..you can fulfill that dream".

At the time my head was such a mess, there was my Father, the ROCK of my life, leaving this world yet still giving me his wisdom and advice. For years after I wrote song after song after… Continue

Peace between people and between people and the earth

In 1985 Northern Ireland was in the grip of our violent conflict, tearing apart our society in sectarian division. A small group of people volunteered their time and dedicated part of their lives to developing the idea of having a residential centre which was based on a holistic approach to non-violence. This idea was originally created by the "Peace People" from Belfast who wanted to create a centre to which they could bring groups of all ages… Continue
